Ahmad Rahbar, M.D., has been a cardiovascular surgeon in Wheeling since 1981. His area of expertise includes heart, lung and vascular surgery with emphasis in coronary bypass, valve and aneurysm repair. Dr. Rahbar formed the Wheeling Heart Institute, which is now known as The Heart, Lung and Vascular Surgeons, a division of Wheeling Hospital. Included in the institute is the Vein Center, which offers non-surgical laser treatment for varicose veins. Dr. Rahbar graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and received his medical degree at the University of Michigan. He served his surgery internship at West Virginia University (WVU); residencies in surgery at the University of Florida and WVU, and thoracic surgery at WVU. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. In addition, Dr. Rahbar is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
