Sells Verizon mobile phones 8/26/2005

I signed my Verizon contract and bought my phone at this Radio Shack. It was a good deal- I signed a 2-year contract and received a nice Samsung phone for $20. I did get charged an activation fee, which surprised me because it was my experience with Cingular and T-Mobile that that fee is waived for a 2 year contract- with T-mobile I even got it waived for a one year contract. I did ask at Radio Shack if they would waive it, but no dice. I was also disappointed because the salesman couldn't port my number from TMobile. It wasn't clear exactly what the problem was, but in the end I decided not to pursue the port and got a new number. It was a 410 number- I guess they ran out of the DC area codes for cell phones. The experience with the Radio Shack was fine. For cell service in DC in general, I recommnd Verizon because it worksn the metro. more

Gold plated wiring? Honestly, I understand they need some gimmick so that they can mark up prices, but this is ridiculous. I walked in looking for a wire for my computer, one that ended up costing me $3.00. Radioshack only carried the gold-plated $12.00 version. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Granted, this store has basically every possible wire or cable that you could ever need. But the reality is that they mark up their prices because of this ridiculous "feature". The convenience factor is high seeing that they spout up more often than most electronic stores, but this gold-plated business is really beginning to bother me. more
