Excellent food & Service 6/23/2009

Was there last night with my sister & Dad. Very nice place, with outside seating. Sis had a pasta with chicken dish, Dad had a veal dish and I had chicken limone, they all were excellent. Also the soup and salad starters we had were really good. The service was excellent. I'll definitely go back again. Expect to pay about $36.00 per person with starter/entree/coffee, which is not bad for a good dinner in Northern Liberties/Olde city area. We got there at 5:30pm and had no problems finding parking, and had our choice of seating. Had a very enjoyable evening. Pros: BYOB more

My favorite! 9/14/2008

My husband and I go here for dinner every Sat night...we love it! Never had a bad meal and the food is consistently good!!!!! Michael and team are fantastic! The service is over the top, the prices are very reasonable...we love it!! Branzino, Veal Milanese, Filet Mignon Special, Lamb Chops, salads, mussels, pastas: all to die for...a must go!! more

Editorial review from GrubHub 9/13/2008

Ii just love this place... They serve the best bronzino EVER! So simple and delicious, it just melts in your mouth.Tthey fillet it right next to u and pour the cooking juices right over it.. Seriously, I have dreams about this. Not to mention this place is BYOB with the perfect ambiance for a casual date night.. By far the best freshest seafood and pasta around! If I lived closer I would definitely grubhub take-out from them to have it more often... Highly recommend! more

Best Italian BYOB in town! 5/28/2008

We went there on a Saturday night with 6 people and there was the best food I ever had in a BYOB!! I had the grilled fish and it was so good! the potatoes and vegetables beside were not that great but everything else was so amazingly good! Staff were really friendly but we had to wait one hour because they don't take reservations. Pros: best food. Really enexpensive Cons: no reservations. long wait more

Best Restaurant in Philly 7/4/2007

I discovered Radicchio by chance a few years ago and I have NEVER been disappointed. This restaurant is incredible! I've traveled througout Italy several times and this restaurant reminds me of all the great restaurants in Napoli or Reggio Calabria! It's awesome. The staff is so friendly and will never force their personality on you...but engage them in conversation and they're the best. Noel is especially awesome. Sometimes the wait can be a little long ( they're so popular!) so check out their other restaurant in Fishtown...Cafe Juliana. The food is equally delicious. Pros: Staff, Value, Food is unbelievable Cons: No parking more

decent place to eat 4/22/2007

so-so. staff was good, but food wasn't on par with good italian byos downtown. :) overall good experience though. more

Fabulous Food! 4/10/2007

Went here with a group of 6. We had to wait outside for an hour for a table - and it was pretty chilly, so I was a little skeptical that it would be worth the wait - but it was! We got an assortment of appetizers and all were really great. The crab cake appetizer was spectacular - BEST crab cake I've ever had - hands down! Everyone raved about their entrees also. We were all so stuffed that we didn't even order dessert - which never happens for me. As an added plus - this place was really reasonably priced. Definitely will go back there again and again! Pros: Food, price Cons: Be prepared to wait more

Best Italian in Philly 1/24/2007

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. They have the freshest fish (carved tableside) and some amazing pasta. Be careful of weekends as the word has gotten out and you're sure to find a wait. Still it's definitely worth a trip and you won't be dissapointed. Pros: Fish, pasta, specials Cons: parking, wait more

best italian in city 7/19/2006

Fabulous BYOB spot. Romantic, intimate, and phenomenal cuisine. In the summer they open the windows, creating a cool cross-breeze through the restaurant. The dover sole is one of the best I have ever had. Authentic Italian fare for a truly generous price! Pros: Dover Sole, Salads Cons: waiting for a table...Just pop the wine :) more

They work late......so good 9/7/2004

In the afternoon youll see business casual adults dining outside and at night you'd kill for parking but its worth it. The food is excellent. My cousin lives two doors down and knows the owner, who graciously cooked up some amazing lobster raviolli at 2am as he was cleaning for the night. Great food and great people! Pros: outside dining, Lobster raviolli, memories of rome more

Rude & Loud 1/30/2004

Well, this place used to be good. It's sad that it has turned into what it is today. The staff rushes you through dinner so they can seat the people waiting for a table. There is no place for these people to wait though, so they stand around the front area near the tables. The food is pretty good but I'll never be going back here. It is overpriced, noisy and worst of all, the staff is extremely rude. Not recommended at all. Pros: food is pretty good Cons: ambience, rude staff, overpriced more

Noisy but Good 6/21/2003

This small BYO becomes very noisy, to the point of not being able to have much of a conversation at your table (we were a party of 4 on a Saturday night). The no reservation policy works well for the owners but for those waiting outside in the rain the night we were there, well Im sure they thought differently. The bruschetta was excellent, as were all the appetizers. The veal saltimbocca was just OK, the fish entree was good, but the soft shell crab special and the pounded veal chop were excellent. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful now if they could just do something about the noise level. Dinner for 2 with tip was around $72. Pros: Varied Menu, BYO Cons: Noisy more

bella,bella! 5/5/2003

Fabulous experience overall! Our handsome waiter was knowledgeable in recomendations and ingredients, composed a five course meal for our group, and was very prompt in serving our many bottles of wine--this is a BYO, kids. Food cooked expertly from homemade pasta to the fish filleted tableside. Share your extra wine with the staff--both service and cuisine outstanding. We can't wait to return. more

Best Italian in Philly! 11/6/2002

My husband and I have been to many Italian restaurants not only in Philly but also in NYC, and Radicchio Cafe is our favorite. Food is straightforward and simply excellent. Our favorites are linguini del mare and penne granseola. Grilled calamari appetizer is also good. The dining room gets a little loud and crowded, but it's nice to see other people having a good time, too. more

Squisito! 10/10/2002

I have to confess that I have been to the Radicchio Cafe two Fridays in a row. It is excellent. I recommend the Crab Pasta dish. I also had the Radicchio Risto. Its BYOB which helps the pocket book. It got a little loud up but its al fresco and definitely worth the wait. more

Memories of Italy 8/16/2002

I visited Rome last summer and the food was incredible. Eating at the Radicchico Cafe brought back fond memories - the food is authentic and also incredible! Truly an international find - it is like dining in Italy. Ate there 8/14 - sooo good, I'm taking co-workers back today 8/15! Pros: Good Value, Authentic, Nice Atmosphere more

Leave the US for a couple of hours 7/29/2002

Unbelievable service and impeccable quality food. I went there by chance and I came out as if I'd been to Italy for a couple of hours. Authentic cheeses, fresh shellfish salad, and the main course was a tasty Mediterranean Striped Bass delicately poached with herbs. The wait staff was truly concerned about the customers. And judging by the Italian spoken by the customers, this upscale Italian already has an expatriate clientele. My only criticism is that the tables are small to fit the succulent dishes... Pros: Food, Service, Location Cons: Small tables more

Italian that is Well Worth It! 7/25/2002

Congratulations to the owners of Radicchio for a terrific new restaurant. I ate here this past Monday evening, after reading the recent Rick Nichols review in the Inquirer magazine. Even though we arrived fairly late, near 10 PM, the manager was extremely welcoming and forthright. In fact, the manager deserves kudos for his work ethic and style. We were greeted warmly about that night's specials, and then given two pieces of bruschetta. The mussels in the red sauce and the grilled calamari salad were outstanding, and very fresh. In between courses, the manager even gave us a plate of marinated beets for free to taste, and they were refreshing. That gesture alone impresed me. Our dinners of veal saltimboca and seafood fettucine were fantastic, and very reasonable. I commend Radicchio on their service and high quality, and wish them luck. I hope they are here for many years. Pros: fresh food, attentive service, reasonable prices Cons: noisy dining area more

BYOB 7/10/2002

The food was pure and simple Italian - not a red sauce joint. What a surprise - and a BYOB! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal - especially since I did not have to make a reservation 3 weeks in advance. Pros: BYOB, inexpensive more
