Ra Sushi Bar Restaurant

RA is usually a solid sushi restaurant with a great happy hour. The only issue is that it is a very popular happy hour venue and service can slip during that time. Out of that one bad experience, all of my other experiences at RA have been great. They have a great happy hour menu for food and drinks, and their normal menu is great as well. A little expensive, but still worth it; food is delicious and atmosphere is fun and moving. more

Last Monday I went to happy hour with four of my friends and we had a blast. The sushi was great and the drinks were just as delicious! The specials were pretty good - 1/2 off select sushi and appetizers, $1 hot sake and $5 specialty martinis. I recommend the Pamatini. The atmosphere was upbeat (and crowded but not over-packed) and so was our waiter. We had a fun three hours at Ra Sushi and will be making a trip back ASAP. Not too big on this reviewing thing, but I though that this place deserved some good press. I love this place, and have become somewhat of a regular. I really feel like it hasn't fallen into the cliche field of sushi nightlife. Its much crazier than that... I have an awesome time every time I go there. People watching there is great, whether its good or bad people haha. The staff is tons of fun, and I love the wrap-around bar. This place is my favorite piece of the Shops at Legacy, and I hope that everyone has as much fun as I do when I go. For weeks now all I have been hearing from my girlfriends is ""you have to go to Ra. Check out Ra. You haven't been to Ra yet? What the h*** are you waiting for?"" blah blah blah. So on my birthday we got a babysitter for the evening, and my husband and I went to Ra. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical at first. As we were walking up to the restaurant the music was playing very loud, and was worried that this might be just another Chaucer's. But once we walked in I was blown away. The decor is beautiful, globes hanging from all over the ceiling, glowing a low-lit red, beautiful paintings of geisha girls on the walls. Now I'm thinking ""great another pretentious sushi restaraunt"", but while the hostesses were wearing nice dresses, the rest of the staff wears jeans and t-shirts, and everyone was smiling and looked like they were having fun. Our server was a cute little guy named Chance. He was outstanding! He made us feel very comfortable not being ""sushi experts"" and took the time to explain everything you need to know about sushi. We were having trouble deciding what we wanted, so we just let our server pick items out for us. The most memorable one for me was the Vegas Roll, but everything else was great as well, (sorry I wish I could remember the other names to the rolls we tried) The music was pumping, probably the best music I've heard at a restaraunt ever! I don't think there was a dj, I didn't see one anyways. Beautiful people everywhere, the staff included. I can see why my friends love this place so much! We stayed and mingled until almost 1am. This place rocks, literally. The place was a sea of beautiful people. The food was fantastic and our server was the best server I ever had. You have to see it for yourself, but this restaurant is awesome! What I was most impressed with is everyone was working hard INCLUDING THE GENERAL MANAGER! NO wonder this place is the buzz all around Dallas and packed everynight of the week. more

From the outside I thought this place was going to be fantastic. That thought stopped at the door. The host was clueless. The server was more clueless and unattentive. We felt like we were bothering her. It took 10 min's for her just to say hello. She finally took our order 20 min's later.... 1 hour 15 mins later - no food. We told her to just give us our bill.
