I'm uncertain at which restaurant the previous reviewer, Melissa T., was eating, but it was not a Russ'. Both of the Russ' Restaurants in Kalamazoo, the one on West Main and this one on Westnedge, were closed down at least several years ago. The buildings themselves are even gone. The one on West Main was replaced by a Texas Roadhouse, another chain. I'm uncertain about what is in the Westnedge site now. Though the Russ' chain still exists (you can find them in Holland, Grand Haven, etc.) I was finding the restaurants rather tired and uninspired. They tended to attract the same customer base as Bill Knapps (older, conservative couples that preferred restaurants that did not serve liquor); but Bill Knapps has also seen restaurant after restaurant close down. more

You can never go wrong eating at Russ'! This place has been around forever and has always served excellent, home-cooked food. Try the open-faced roast beef sandwich! more

I've been here several times and have always had good food. The pecan pancakes are fabulous. The wait time is generally pretty long and the decor is pretty ugly and dated. The prices are low, so that and the food makes up for the atmosphere. more
