Owners of this company (Rob and Suzanne) are big bullies. Before the contract was signed, their attitude was really good, promised us things. Once the contract was signed, any verbal promises are thrown out the door unless we pay extra. When things go wrong, they would twist facts to their advantage and want us to sign "amendments" to contract terms like "home owners cannot talk to RJK's sub-contractors and employees". If we do not agree to their terms, they would stop work. They have no regards of what you think, they do things their way, their schedule. Our project is now more than 3 weeks beyond original schedule with no end in sight. more

When I made my first tentative call to RJK Construction the only things I knew for sure were that I wanted a new bathroom and approximately what I wanted to spend. I did not have a lot of time (or inclination) to spend on shopping for fixtures, tile, etc. and I explained this to Suzanne up front. She and Rob (and their crew) took care of everything from that point on. Except for the tile, which I selected from a showroom with Suzanne’s help, everything else was presented to me and brought to the house for my approval: granite, paint samples, shower, sink and light fixtures, it could not have been easier. The quality of the work (including an innovative tile design that Rob did) was exceptional and the workers punctual and neat. I was given regular e-mail updates on the progress of the project as well as the timeline for completion. Everything was done in a timely manner and even came in slightly under budget. Above and beyond the quality of the overall workmanship, RJK Construction provided a very personal aspect to the remodel: there was never any question that I was in very good hands. We love our 3 new bathrooms and so do all the people that come to our house. We show them off every opportunity we get and also take every chance afforded to us to recommend your company for all types of remodeling. Your prices are fair and the work you do is excellent. We could not have asked for a better contractor. Your honesty, integrity, and work ethic are #1 in our book. The crew at RJK is the best. Their work is impeccable, their customer service is tops, and they are truly an asset to your company. The work area was always left clean after a hard day’s work and everything was neatly put away and tidy. Suzanne was excellent in handling all the business aspects of the job and helping us to pick out tiles and accessories that would complement the vision we had for our home. We got great deals and we never felt that RJK was profiting unfairly from us. Rob has an eye for detail and his constant desire to make us happy was what really impressed us. Any concerns we ever voiced were addressed and taken care of, even after the job was complete. This type of care for one's client makes RJK stand out from the rest. We are very pleased with our remodeled master bathroom. Rob and Suzanne were so helpful and easy to work with. They listened to what we wanted, helped us design and find products, and worked within our budget. We were impressed with Rob's professionalism and workmanship. Rob works to have the finished product perfect for the customer. He replaced tiles in order to change the location of the shower/tub faucet and handle. When the recessed mirror medicine cabinet would not fit, he had mirrors framed with wood that matched the cabinetry. He pays attention to details. We love the recessed tile area in the shower for shampoo bottles. He finished the windows with molding. The tile on the shower walls and floor, the cabinetry, and the granite countertop are fabulous. I now have cupboard and drawer space, a whirlpool tub, recessed lighting and sleek faucets and accessories. I am definitely having R.J.K. Construction, Inc. work on my next remodeling project. I am unbelievably amazed & excited about my new kitchen! Could not have imagined that it would turn out so beautifully; Suzanne of RJK Construction designed my kitchen. Before we selected a contractor or even knew what we were going to do, she took our ideas & the current styles in our home & turned them into my dream kitchen! She helped evaluate & reevaluate the layout & selection of our cabinetry, appliances, and lighting. Our kitchen feels Just Right! I am so very thankful for her designer's eye, her patience, and creativity with pulling together the look we wanted without breaking our bank! To Thank you Suzanne and RJK for your remarkable design! The major kitchen remodel turned out beautifully. RJK employees a top notch kitchen designer who listened to us and designed a space that works perfectly for us. Rob's attention to detail is commendable. The project manager was also focused on details and it showed in final finishes like the custom created door frame constructed to match the original metal door frames and also in matching new trim work to the older trim in the home. Suzanne's design skills are also exceptional. She designed a striking tile back splash that matches our style wonderfully. RJK staff communicated well with and kept us updated regarding project progress. There were some delays mostly due to inclement winter weather but the communication regarding delivery and work delays were communicated in a timely manner. Rob and Suzanne Kalmin are wonderful; they are very good at what they do and are a pleasure to work with. They both care tremendously about the quality of their work (and their crew's work) and I never once doubted if there was a small bump in the road that they wouldn't correct it. We had done a lot of research and read the horror stories of projects gone awry, crooked contractors, and poor quality work - none of this came into play with RJK. Due to a second-floor water leak, we experienced extensive house damage that resulted in us losing our entire kitchen (floors, cabinets, etc.). On top of this, we had finally been picked for an adoption which added a significant time crunch. My wife and I did our research and interviewed several companies. RJK towered over everyone else with whom we spoke. We loved that they were a soup-to-nuts company -- that they coordinated everything - the plumbing, electrical, tile work, painting, etc. Furthermore, they had an excellent balance of design and engineering. Our initial impressions of the company were correct, but insufficient as to how wonderful they were. Instead of coming in with their own ideas of how our new kitchen should look, they listened to us, talked to us about how we used the kitchen (e.g. my wife loves to bake), and worked with us to design something that we would love. One thing that really stood out is that they have middle-class sensibilities. They were always on time - and when they were stuck in traffic, they called to let us know they were late. They cleaned up after themselves every single day. They did the common sense things that are often not that common sense. As a woodworker, I am picky about how things are done when it comes to cabinetry and trim-work. I was incredibly impressed with their craftsmen and craftsmanship. RJK was ultimately focused on making sure we were satisfied. They communicated well. They pricing was highly reasonable. They masterfully coordinated all the moving parts so it all worked smoothly. The owners, Rob and Suzanne, spent time assisting us on design selections and throughout the project their staff kept us informed on a daily basis regarding the work schedule. Their team was polite, patient, and considerate and despite the blizzards worked diligently to get the project finished within a reasonable time. RJK strove to ensure that the remodel would be a stunning complement to our home. I highly recommend anyone considering a remodel or an addition to give RJK a call. We found RJK online at Angie's List, we called and got an appointment for an estimate. We liked them immediately and we started the work quickly. It was finished quickly too. We worked together on design, they had some great ideas and tips. Rob Kalmin of RJK is professional, honest, and precise. He has people on board that are hard workers and aim to please. They all go out of their way to be sure the customer is satisfied by working side by side every step of the way. In house staff a little bothersome but better to be thorough. Thank you most of all for being EXACTLY who you say you are and more. RJK Team, you have been the best experience I have ever had working with contractors. Your teams are professional. You actually clean before you begin, and at the end of each day. You protected my hardwood entrance with cut to fit plywood, my carpet with special adhesive plastic, and my rooms with frame/zippered plastic, for dust and privacy! You, Rob and Jason have communicated most effectively with me at least twice daily, as the Team meets prior to the day, and when day's work is completed, to discuss what will happen tomorrow. It is so easy for me to know exactly what is going on. It is important to me, that each sub team: Scott's expert framing, Vladimir’s electric, Mitch's plumbing, Felix's tile etc. each has their own job specific blueprint posted, along with the overall blueprint. There is effective communication ongoing all the time, as well as Rob, Suzanne, and Jason Chris to oversee all. We were very pleased with our kitchen remodeling by RJK. Their attention to detail and the quality of work were excellent. We expected that and were not disappointed. What we especially appreciated was their hands-on assistance in helping us select cabinetry floor tile back splash tile color combinations as well as well as tile design options. They did so much more that construction. Having never done a home renovation project we didn't have a clue. Rob and Suzanne and their entire team were patient and professional and ensured we got the kitchen we've always wanted. A 5-star job. more
