Our second time at Spargo Grille in Manalapan. The first time was better because we went with the meat dishes. The steaks were prepared nicely, the sides were good, and the portions were fine. This was true the second time for our eating companions, who both ordered beef entrees. My wife and I both ordered fish this time. Nothing spectacular and rather skimpy portions. I had the tuna, which was sushi-grade and good ... but hardly much to eat. My wife's tilapia was bland, and also too small. The best thing about the place is the friendly and attentive wait staff, and the fact that you can ""bring your own."" We brought a couple of bottles of excellent wine from home, which cost us a fraction of what a restaurant would charge. Overall, this is a decent restaurant for the area (not much competition in this part of town), but you can do better if you're willing to drive a few miles.
