R J Julia Book Sellers

Magnificent and delightful book store. I had recently purchased a copy of "Swiss Family Robinson" for my goddaughter. I also wanted to buy one of those "My Islands". They seem to be the new pet rock like craze, only it is an island and it includes a Deed. Such a great idea. Will you be getting them in? Do you know of a store that is currently selling them? more

The book store is in a nice part of town. It is a little small but carries a vast array of books. The people who work there and very nice and always helpful. They also get some well known Authors in there. It has a very cozy feeling and the little café adds a nice touch. I would recommend this book store any day. more

R. Julia on Madison's adorable Main Street, and offers a huge selection of books, gifts, stationary and cards. They carry the latest bestsellers, along with reference, cookbooks, local items, and have an upstairs floor devoted to Children. They frequently have noted authors and celebrities in for signings, and also run summer camps and programs for children. The back of the store houses a great coffee house that also has sandwiches, soups and bakery items. The seating is limited, and it gets very busy, esp for lunch and brunch. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very knowledgeable. Its a picture perfect store. more

R J Julia's is the local bookstore of choice for the intellectuals on the shoreline. They have a great selection, and are always up on their recommendations for adults and children alike. I had a boss who shopped for christmas presents there - he told them who he needed presents for, and they picked out reading material that was always well recieved. (I wouldn't have read a biography of John Adams on my own, but wound up loving it, as just one example) They also do a great job of bringing in authors for booksignings and lectures. It's a hike from New Haven (not literally - literally, it's a long drive!), but Madison in general is worth it, and I'd rather spend my money at a great old-fashioned bookstore than a chain like Barnes and Noble any day. more
