My wife contracted Thomas to repaint our Front Steel Entry door after our dog (German Shepard-Great Dane) decided to go at it one stormy night. She explained the entire door received a good beating along with the trim and the sidelights. Although no deep grooves or serious chunky damage to the wood occured there was plenty of chipping, peeling, scratches, smears and smudges. Thomas quoted an amount and explained the process. Day one, his worker shows up doesn't remove the door or the hardware, doesn't wash, wipe or sand, and does not mask off anything including the hardware, the brick below the door, the brick on each side of the sidelites and the concrete patio. He begins to paint with a shiny primer and a small brush. Mind you this is a damaged steel door.
When called about the multiple drips, smears, thick chunks of paint, chipping areas still very visible from 12 feet away, the bleeding of the undercoat paint and the excessive amount of paint smeared on all of the hardware, my brick, foot rest and concrete patio - Thomas asked what we expected for $155.00 because that's the job we were paying for, if we wanted a quality job and it done right/well then he could do it for $350 - $400. We asked what we owed for the work already completed and that we would settle up now rather than continue on, he said we owed nothing and good-night. (Seriously, that's what he said!)
It's gonna cost me $80 just to clean up all the primer paint and smears on my brick, concrete and hardware.
Professional until we had a complaint (he didn't even come look at the job!), timely employee and friendly employee. But terrible craftsmanship/work, terrible follow up customer service and highly unprofessional after the booking! Would never recommend to anyone, especially in today's economy when qualified, real professionals are readily available. I have photos of the work if anyone is interested in seeing them.
