Great all around park 8/15/2005

One of the best hiking/biking trails in the St Louis area. Let me just qualify about the biking part first. This is a great hiking trail for those of you who like to bike trails with rolling hills for exercise. This is not a causal scenic Katy trail ride, a fast paced, paved Creve Coeur Lake Park ride, nor a Castlewood Park/Chubb Trail kind of ride. Rather, the trails here are enough to give you a good workout without you having to focus all your attention focusing on keeping to a singletrack type trail. Hiking wise - it is great as you get to see a variety of people and animals along the way. Queeny Park is also great for picnics with many open picnic areas around. It's a great park to just lay down a blanket to lie on and dream the day away. Like fishing, tennis, swimming, volleyball, Frisbee, kite-flying? Like bird watching? Seeing trees over a hundred years old? These are just some of the activities people do at the park. Just watch out for the horse dung piles along the trails. more

  • Facilities
Queeny Park is home to the Greensfelder Recreation Complex and the AKC's Museum of the Dog (usually referred to as simply the Dog Museum), plus several picnic areas, trails, lakes for fishing and equestrian courses. And don't forget the hayrides! Hour-long hayrides complete with an after-ride picnic can be arranged by calling (636) 458-0271. The rides are offered year-round for a fee of $125 per wagon (each wagon holds 20 people).

    Activities
The nearly seven miles of park trails are open for walking, biking, cross country skiing and horseback riding. Fishing is allowed in the park's lakes, but you must follow posted rules. (Call 636-391-3474 for more fishing info.) The equestrian courses feature jumps, fences, water areas, etc. Queeny doesn't have horses for rent, though.
