I have tried the Queensgate Cinemas my first and last time on 11/10. We first walk into the cinema, and it reminds me of something of of the 1980's. We wait in line to pay, at the concession stand, bad sign. Then I find out they don't take credit cards, no big deal, as they have an ATM right there. The bathrooms were extremely dirty, and then they have no one to take your tickets, so I could have viewed many movies before I went to see mine.
As I was waiting for my movie to begin, I was waiting in the hallway. Someone walked out of another theater to complain to a worker at the Queensgate about the screen cutting the film off, and they couldn't see the whole picture. All the while I am standing there thinking, another bad sign. Then we get to our movie, and let the fun begin!!
First of all the movie I was seeing, Borat, had a lot of subtitles. I could not read all of them, thanks to the fact that the screen kept getting cut off. Upon further inspection, I think the screens were too small. Then, after my husband and a few others told the theater to fix the screen, it would go back to being cut off again. Then, as I was sitting in the back, I noticed a lot of people were sitting in the front, which is unusual. I then noticed that we could not hear the movie, as they did not have it in stereo! I can never remember being in a movie where the sound was as lousy as this!
I read these other two reviews before mine (and I understand they were from over a year ago) and I understand they feel this theater is such a great bargain, but I do believe you get what you pay for, and I feel like the problems of this theater hindered my viewing experience of what was supposed to be a great, funny movie. Please do yourself a favor and spend the extra 4 dollars a couple or so and go to one of the other movie theaters that not only have stadium seating (not a necessity, but a plus) but also have your standards or a decent screen and stereo!!!
What I couldn't understand was how the people in the theater accepted this bad service. 15 dollars is still very expensive. If I new the theater was this bad, I would have gone to the cheap 2nd run theater down the street. I can't believe people would go back to this cinema, because it is run very poor.
