Affordable Service/Top Quality Tire Shop in Kensington, MD 2/6/2011

We went to Quality Discount Tire in February 2011 to have tires we bought online installed at this shop. Steve, the owner, personally provided us with very professional and friendly service. He took the time to explain to me how the tire pressure monitoring system works on my car, including taking me out into his shop to show me how the system parts. He explained his pricing in detail and suggested a way to save money the next time we purchased tires. The entire process of purchasing the tires and getting them installed was easy and painless. We definitely recommend this place to go to install and buy tires. more

some good some bad 1/10/2011

They put my new wheels on with no hassle except for stripped bolt. I had to come back for bolt repair which seemed obvious but they said they did not notice it. Balance was good though. Second time, put new tires on for good price but another bolt was completely broken off. This time they noticed but wanted to charge me for repair. \r \r Been here twice and had to bring car back in twice, not impressed. Maybe honest mistakes but they are obviously rough with their tools. more

Terrific Shop 8/24/2010

This is a terrific shop. They are honest and do good work. Nothing fancy here - this is more like your Dad's mechanic than a fancy store with Lattes. \r \r As one example, I was there having some work done when a lady came in with a problem. They took the car in even though they were very busy. We started talking and I told her I thought the place was very honest. About 15 minutes later, the mechanic came out and told her that the problem was minor, they had to fill her tires and that she was good to go. She was happy with the news and asked how much she owed. "Nothing". She was incredulous. I'm pretty sure they gained a new customer right then and there (as well as ensuring that I stayed with them). more

Highly recommended 5/19/2010

Great shop. Cheapest around by far, quick service, and they didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need. After being quoted over $90 by another shop for a broken sway bar link on one side of my front end, I called around to 6 different places to check the price. Quality Discount Tire was the best price by far. I ended up having the links replaced on BOTH SIDESd and was outta there in a hurry for less than $80. Great job guys..keep up the good work. more

Sometimes good; sometimes sloppy 3/6/2010

Mixed bag. I have had some work done there and it was good; other work was a tad disappointing. I had a problem with a key cable and they ended up disconnecting the cable to my rear hatchback door. \r I recommended them to my brother, who needed an alternator replaced. They quoted $500 for a refurbished alternator and the labor. He declined the alternator work but did have some belt and other work done. Midway through the cross-country trip, he opened the hood and found ALL THE OLD PARTS ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. Very sloppy. Later, he bought a used alternator for $35 and a mechanic charged him $90 to put it in. \r Be careful - sometimes the work is sloppy, though they are very fast and seem very nice. more

Hit and run 2/14/2010

My wife's van was involved in a "hit and run" accident that blew out out one of the tear tires. This occurred as the recent major storm was begining. Quality had me in and out with two new rear tires (great price), a wheel well repair and a bumper repair in 30 minutes. I have had a great experience there several times before but felt like sharing this miracle. They are a top notch group! more

Great Experience at Quality Discount Tire 2/9/2010

Quality Discount Tire came recommended and more than earned the high marks. Exceptional service, excellent tires and prices without surprises. Had to get new tires on a vehicle during Snowmageddon '10 and judging from the traffic slithering across lanes on the way there, so did a lot of people. Pushed a car out of plow line snow on the way there and didn't make it in until very late in the day, but they still took care of me. Corey and the guys went above and beyond - and I could feel a huge difference in handling and traction driving out through the snow on the tires they recommended. Will send closest family and friends to Quality Discount Tires - thanks for helping me out and making my car more sure-footed. more

Great Local Business 6/26/2009

A few months ago we were in desperate need of a new set of tires. The front tires on my wife's car were bald and I had put multiple plugs in the rear tires. After doing some research on tirerack.com I called our local non-chain tire shop Quality Discount Tire & Auto. The proprietor of the shop agreed that the tires I wanted were indeed very good all-season tires and he had even run a set on his car. He also mentioned the tires wore out quickly and suggested a different tire. The tire he recommended was rated very well on tirerack.com and have much longer life span. We have been very happy with the tires he recommended. Normally, I do all of my own auto maintenance and repair work. Recently, I found myself in the position of having to trust my car in the hands of another mechanic. Fortunately, I remembered Quality Discount Tire & Auto also does auto repair and maintenance work. Top Notch 6/4/2009

I had 4 new run flat tires installed on my BMW today. Corey and the staff were top notch. I did not have to wait long. They went the extra mile, finding online discounts from Continental Tires that I could use in connection with my purchase. As a result, I will be getting a free GPS unit thanks to their resourcefulness. I highly recommend Quality Discount Tire. It is a gem of a shop. They even gave me a travel mug as I waited for my car. \r \r Steve, the owner, was able to save me $140 off a quote from another shop, when I was shopping for tires.I highly recommend Quality and will come back again. more

Best Value 5/28/2009

My tires were in great need of replacement so I had to find a reliable place to do the work. Previously, I had gone to places like NTB & Merchant's Tire, but I was never really satisfied with the service I had been getting. I did some research online and decided to try Quality Discount Tire based on the number of positive reviews I had read about the shop.\r \r I called and set up an appointment for the next day. The person on the phone was very polite. I brought my car in at our agreed time and they were ready to work on it right away. I will add that the place definitely doesn't receive it's high marks for presentation, but it makes up for this in honest, professional service. They sold the tire I needed for substantially less than I had previously paid at NTB & MT (the exact same tire) so I decided to replace all 4!!! Best Self-Owned Shop in the Maryland suburbs! 10/16/2008

I am a self-confessed "Tire Nut" -- I actually LIKE to shop for new tires for our cars, and truly love the feel and safety of having a good set of tires, both summer and winter. It's almost a hobby for me to find the truly best tires for each vehicle...and these guys are my favorite shop!\r \r I was referred to Quality Discount Tire about 10 years ago, and have been coming back to them EVERY time that we need new tires, or any kind of tire service. They KNOW tires, they give great advice when buying or fixing them, and I ALWAYS leave their place feeling very satisfied.\r \r Steve, the owner, is a truly honest and hard-working guy, and he has always provided great service, and great prices. I needed a new set of tires and the staff at Quality Discount Tire were great. They showed me what I needed to know in relation to the wear on my tires, and explained the process, and how to best keep up my tires in the future. I ordered my tires online and Quality Discount Tire was a recommended installer. I couldn't have asked for faster, friendlier, or more reasonably-priced service. I probably won't bother to order tires online again, since I have found such a great shop locally. They've earned my loyalty! more

A Great Place to Deal with 5/14/2008

I first stopped at Quality Discount Tire when my fully loaded car blew a tire at the start of a long holiday trip. Steve stopped what he was doing and got me going with a speed that was awesome. I've gotten all of my tires there ever since, and they go a great job. more

truly amazing service and so nice 4/26/2007

Had car checked for engine light and was told it was nothing. Didnt charge me. Ken and steve were very friendly as well as their staff. they did a amazing job and the price was fair.
