Long review, please read all the way through before you decide to go to Purr & Bark. If I could give zero stars I would.\r
\r
Mid 2010 my mom decided to switch to Dr Regina's Purr & Bark mobile vet unit and had nothing but glowing reviews after her first visit to the house. Her cats loved her, they loved that they didn't have to get into the cat carrier, go on a car ride, etc. \r
\r
So when my 12 year old senior dog was diagnosed with aggressive malignant cancer at the beginning of Sept 2010 I was beyond distraught. He was not well enough to battle such a progressed disease and I knew I had to put my faithful companion to sleep - I loved him too much to let him suffer. \r
\r
My mom suggested Dr Regina's Purr & Bark. He could pass away at home in a safe, comfortable environment. I could bawl my eyes out and hold him as long as I wanted. It seemed ideal. \r
\r
The actual event went as well as it could, I suppose. It was the hardest thing I have had to do to date - as anyone in this situation can relate to. For some reason I was overly concerned about his body going immedietely to the crematory. I just had this feeling, but was reassured she would be going directly to the animal crematory and that she would contact me when him remains were ready to be collected. \r
\r
A week passes, no word from Dr Regina. I call, leave a voice message, she never calls back. BTW, she only has a cell as her business phone, so don't expect to ever get her directly on the phone. \r
\r
My mom then calls, Dr Regina actually calls back. Apologizes, says she had a FAMILY emergency and was called out of town suddenly. Said she couldn't decipher my phone number from my message otherwise she would have called me back instead of my mother. Of course we understood, emergencies happen. \r
\r
I send her an email, my mother sends her an email. No email back. I call the next week and leave another voice message, clearly leaving my phone number this time. No call back. By this time it is 2 weeks since we had put my dog down. My mother leaves her another voice message as well. \r
\r
The next day Dr Regina decides to call me. She says she is sorry but she had a FINANCIAL emergency and had to use the money for the cremation to FIX HER TRUCK. My dog was in a FREEZER at her home, and had been for 2 weeks. And did I want a refund. What?!?\r
\r
I let her quickly know that he was to be cremated that day and I spoke directly with the animal creamation place and delt with them only after that. They were wonderful, BTW and were also baffled that such a thing had happened. \r
\r
If you love your furr babies as much as I do - don't go to Dr Regina's Purr & Bark. She treated my loving companion of 12 years with no respect or dignity. She lied to us and had absolutely no compassion for our suffering or grief or the fact that I was highly traumatized by suddenly learning of his cancer and having little time to come to terms with him imminint death. I will forever be deeply affected by this woman's actions, I will never be able to forget it. I still cannot believe it. \r
