I got my first tattoo 10 years ago from here and it still looks the same today as it did then. Love the job these guys did!!!!! more

I have had 7 of 8 tattoos done with these guys and 2 piercings and these guys do great work. Going to bring new customers here in a week. more

Chris Anderson does great work, He is quick and has great ideas. He has done 7 out of 9 of my tats and I absolutley love his work! He's extremely clean and makes sure comfortable during services. more

Before moving to Independence, late in 2006, I'd lived in Los Angeles for several decades and had some work done at several parlors there. Nice work, all very expensive....The guys @Purgatory are all down to earth, charge extremely reasonable rates, do GREAT work and are a ball to hang with!! Several other folks commented that the guys are somewhat scary looking(i.e. face tats,etc.)but hey - isn't this a tattoo shop??!! aren't the guys putting ink on you SUPPOSED to role model all kinds of tats & placements??? if you're considering your first tat or your 50th, check out Purgatory - each artist offers something unique!! I've had work done by Jason, Seth and Kyle and each one was awesome....and by the way, i'm a senior citizen and looking forward to my next tat project....so what's your excuse for not stopping by and checking out the place where you too will want to get all your ink work done??!!! by the way, the guys who rotate at the front - Pat and Jason, are extremely helpful/knowledgeable and are always anxious to help the newcomer or the veteran.....see you there!!! I had gotten a tattoo for my father at an other shop and it was ruined and so I decided to look for some where else to get my others so I found Purgatory through a good friend of mine. I've gotten three done there by Jason so far and I would never go anywhere else. Jason does such good work and I send all of my friends there. I've gotten several tatoos at different shops, but once I went there I will never go anywhere else. The artists are all so nice and easy to talk to. They do the best work i've had, and arent' expensive like other places in the area. I always tell everybody where I go and who does mine for me. more

I met Chris years ago and always admired his work. When my son died in Oct 2008 I knew I wanted to have a memorial tattoo for him, and I knew just who I wanted to do it. It is hard to get an appointment with Chris because of his talent (he is in high demand) but when I called and told Pat (a very wonderful person that works at the shop ) what had happen, he relayed my messages and my emails to Chris. Chris and the other great guys at the shop made time for myself and my family, and they were all wonderful to us. And you talk about great work, if you want a professional tattoo, Purgatory Tattoos is the place to go. It was a wonderful experience for my whole family ! They are very reasonable on their prices and the work they all do is awesome ! ! ! But don't just take my word for it, go check it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed ! I got my first tattoo from the owner of the shop 18 yrs. ago. Chris is the only tattooist I can sit down in his chair and say just draw on me. They are very honest about what would look good or not. I seen poeple come in to purgatory and want something tattooed on them that would not be good. The guy's at purgatory would explain why it be bad. They always seem to take pride in their work. Now I have several tattoos from purgatory and now live in Californa. I have people now in Californa say who did you tatts. I would just like to say thanks to Chris and all the guy's at purgatory. The guys at Purgatory are the best!!! I would not recommend anything before trying and they live up to their reputation. The shop is clean and safe, the guys are into their work and will help you decide what to get and where- how to make it personal- no matter what the design. The atmosphere is laid-back and easy, but as before they are serious about their art. They want the customer satisfied. I have had peircings done, taken friends to them for tats and finally decided on my own tat- my first- and I wouldn't go anywhere else for it. I am a MOM and I do recommend this place to my children and their friends as well as my friends. Pros: easy access to shop, parking can be tricky if shop is busy, great prices, excellent service Cons: a drive from the house (NKC) but worth it more

I went to Purgatory a while back for my fourth tattoo... It was the 3rd tattoo parlor I had been to and I will definitely say it was my best experience! All of the guys are really awesome and the tattoos are very high quality! I would recommend this place to anyone!!! LOVED IT!!! more

ok so first of all to the guy with the problem with face tattoos why would you send your mother to a tattoo parlor in the first place...thats just dumb.Anyways purgatory is the best place to go they are super nice and i would never go anywhere else.chopsticks is the guy that i go to he hurt his arm and it was in a sling and he touched up my tat and did my friends...they have the best prices in town.i get my piercings done there aswell. Just got back from there. Was my third time there, but this time it was my girlfriend who was getting the tattoo. These guys are genuinely awesome at what they do. Yeah, they have face tattoos, but 1 star because of that? Come on now, you even said that it was a good place to go. Pros: Great artwork, great talent, great customer service, huge selection of great art to choose from, very flexible Cons: Parking lot could use some work, ambient music might be overwhelming if you arnt into it more

I've never seen so many face tattoos in one place in my life the work was alright but I definitely wouldn't send my Mother to these guys. Kinda scary lookin but really sweet guys once you get them talkin. Like big tattooed teddy bears. Pros: sweethearts Cons: kinda scary more

I have had a bad experience with tat shops before. Then I went to Purgatory with an idea of what I wanted, they drew it up to my exact expectations. I never had a tattoo before in my life. I was scared going in, but I took in a custom design and they duplicated it exactly, even the smallest of details. It turned out flawless.
