ok i must say that Gwen was awsome with the hair cut and style but not so good with the color it was B A D !!!! i told her i wanted dark brown but it was far from it i ended up with a red color i told her make sure my hair dose not turn out R E D she told me that it would not it would be a nice brown ya not so much ..please stay away from color with her just get hair cut and style she is good at that ..... more

I worked at Pure Salon for over 3 years and then moved to Florida to become an Educator at the Aveda Institute. The Institute is where we train future stylists to become top notch professionals with Aveda. Pure upholds all the standards that Aveda teaches and then some. What is your proof. How can you prove that Pure Salon's stylists wrote those reviews? I wouldn't be surprised if you used to work there, or if you had a bad experience at Pure Salon and are trying to get back at them. I personally love the place and feel sorry for you. more

I've been going to Pure Salon for about 10 years (every 6 weeks) and I will go no where else. The salon is beautiful, Aveda products are outstanding, and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I'm always greeted with a smile and feel like everyone is happy to see me.\r \r My stylist is Daryl and I love him! I absolutely trust him with my color and cuts. If you want a stylist who will listen and be honest with you, Daryl is your stylist! This is his passion! His knowledge is amazing and he's always taking classes to be on top of the latest trends. Other stylists come to him for advice! \r \r I highly recommend Pure Salon and Daryl to anyone. You won't be disappointed! first time visit was for hair color and cut. both were absolutely great. i booked with Daryl on chance and absolutely love him. returned for a trim already and plan on going to pure salon for as long as possible. staff is wonderful and the service and attention to their customers is fantastic. they offer you a drink once you get settled, and the massages that come courtesy with you haircut or color are great. they do definitely push their Aveda products (not in a really harsh way, they'll just mention it a couple of times) on you but you know what, they are really and trully worth it. sure, you can manage with grocery store products, but if you can afford to splurge on aveda hair care...do it! my hair is AMAZING after using their stuff. just you wait until you feel your hair after your cut or color...you can get that same gorgeous at home! i can't really afford to splurge too much a hair products so i alternate the ""regular"" stuff with aveda moisturing shampoos or conditioners and there is such a difference. definitely go checkout pure salon! more

i understand if a salon is busy but the stylists there seemed to freak out if they are running behind and its obvious to the cleints there. i went there for my first time and i felt very uncomfortable like i was an object in a factory line just waiting to get my hair cut then just go. the stylist was very unprofessional and all he did was talk about politics and his view on it, which two things you dont talk about politics and religion. i was very offended through my whole service. i wouldnt recommend it. i have been coming to this salon for quite sometime, and my stylist (darrell) messed up on my haircut. he didnt listen to me at all i even brought in some pictures to show, and i could swear that i have never had a bad haircut because im never that picky but my hair was totally destroyed. i came back to try to get it fixed thinking maybe he had alot going that one day i came in.... and immediatly i could tell he was upset he didnt even want to shampoo me, he had anouther person start me and of course when he finished messed it up even more. thats the last time im going there. and for sure im going to tell all my friends that go there to find a new place. I have just moved to the dallas area and was looking for a new Aveda salon. My standards are high and Pure Salon blew my expectations out of the water. I had long, curly hair ready to make a change. The staff was very welcoming from the minute I walked in the door. I received warm greetings from everyone and enjoyed a much needed glass of wine. My stylist (Gwen) was excellent from start to finish. She thoroughly talked me through our consultation and really listened to what I wanted. She embraced the change and gave me the best haircut I have ever had. I now have the cutest short cut and fantastic new color and it's all thanks to Gwen's precise cutting and creativity. Now I have a new life in dallas, a great new hairstyle and my new favorite salon. THANK YOU PURE!!! :) more

Love this salon!!! I have been searching for a salon for so long I am so happy to have finally found a home. I was impressed with the customer service, everyone is really nice and inviting. I felt like I was listened to by my stylist, which for me has been a challenge in the past. My hair is naturally curly and has a mind of its own. My stylist worked with me and listened to me and helped my hair work for me. I will definitely be a life long customer! Pros: people who listen more

I went to Pure Salon twice and both times I saw Gwen, whom I was assured was their best stylist with loads of experience. She was recommended to me because I wanted something a little different, and not a cookie cutter haircut.The first visit I feel she tried to listen, but I came away with a very standard haircut. While she was doing basic long layers on my long hair... there were other stylists standing around, gawking at her supposed skill. I guess they don't see much around there because it really wasn't anything spectacular. Also... Gwen talks uselessly the whole time... she asked me every question in the book, and without any enthusiam. I'm OK with being quiet and reading... but I felt like I was being interviewed and she was doing it just because she felt obligated to. It was really annoying. She spent almost two hours to cut my hair...and I tipped her well as I always do.\r \r The second appointment was a rushed hour... and a TOTAL DISASTER! I brought in many specific pictures of what I wanted. She took off WAY too much in the back.. so I went from having long hair to almost no hair in the back when I really wanted shoulder length. But here is the kicker... she completely left the sides alone... thinking it would be ""cool"" . I had asked for a long A-line with layers and instead I got short hair in the back and two long ""ears"" of hair in the front. Two totally different styles on the same head. It didn't even flow. I had asked her before not too use a razor and at the end she scurried around.... trying to save time....razoring my bangs way too short and generally screwing up my hair. My impression was that she has no idea how to do a shorter haircut, which requires more precision. She actually took pictures after... as if she was proud of her work. Since I have cut the freakishly long sides on my own and now am going to another salon to have the whole thing evened out. I have really short hair now but I didn't ever want to. AVOID !!! I made an appointment for a Saturday and I was really looking forward to getting a nice haircut. Later they called to tell me the stylist was sick and would not be available. So I patiently re-scheduled for the next week only to get a call that another stylist had injured them self and could not cut my hair either. They said someone else could do it at 9:00 am, but I was not available at that time and just felt I was getting shuffled around. Will not bother to try again. more

this hair salon is wonderful i went there the other day for the first time and let me say it was wonderful experience. the staff is very friendly and very comfortable with clients and each other, they are very professional. i got a complimentary hand massage and neck and scalp treatment. i got my hair cut and styled there and let me tell you it was amazing. everyone knows what they are doing. i recommended alot of my family,co-workers,and friends to this salon. everyone walks out looking beautiful. and the front desk treats you good, that was a plus for me when i walked in they want to make you feel at home i guess you could say. everyone of the staff members are professional down to the assistants there. its a very posittive place and i feel like their goal is to make you the cleint happy. this salon is 100% perfect in my book and im not going no where.and they stay late on wed.and thursday nights if you cant squeeze in any other day. its absolutely perfect Pros: parking,security,staff,color and cuts, customer service is amazing Cons: i dont have any more

This was my first visit to Pure Salon and when I walked in I just knew that I found my new ""home-salon"". I have been getting my hair done for many years by various salons and have not always been completely happy. However, at Pure Salon I left 100% happy with the outcome. The minute I walked in the salon everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Kelly did an awesome job on my color and hair cut. I have tough gray to cover and she was able to cover it well with no problem at all. She really cared about what I wanted not what she thought would be cute on me. I have another appointment scheduled for this week. I have told my friends about Pure Salon, they are not ready to make the change yet, but when they do they will be happy they did. I highly recommend Pure Salon (and Anne). I've been to this salon twice, and they are all very friendly and make you feel at home. Anne is the best! She gets the color perfect every time and her cuts are amazingly on target. The hand massage is unique and very relaxing. more

This is the first salon that I've been to in a while that I've been really happy with. From the moment you walk through the door everyone is very friendly. Julie has done a wonderful job each time she's done my hair (cut and color). She always has fun ideas to change it up each time. Anyone who is looking for a salon, you can't go wrong with this one. I am new to the Irving area and found PURE here on citysearch. The reviews were right- this salon is exactly what a salon should be. I was assigned to Kelly for a cut- she did everything EXACTLY the way I wanted. I am very happy with my results and love knowing that my next appointment will be at the same place with the same stylist. Also, it's an Aveda salon so expect lavish treatment, ie back and hand massage! :) more
