Horrible Staff 8/15/2010

To prefice this, I've been a member at the Thunderbird location for a while, but I travel around the valley and use many of the Pure Fitness locations as well as other gyms on any given week. One thing I notice about this company, they really do not care about the members. They may tell you in the beginning that they care, but the honeymoon is short lived if you dont spend any extra money with them. For in stance, I hired a personal trainer in early 2009. For personal reasons he left the company, I get that, no biggie. The training mamnager, Mike tried to help me find the right fit for my new trainer. After no avail, he told me he'd take me on as a client. After 2 months of traing w/ Mike, i show up one day and i'm told ""He was moved to Arrowhead, 'cuz that gym was all f***ed up."" When I said I was going to head to that gym to train with Mike, the district manager told me I couldn't because I was a member at T-bird and I caould only train at that gym. Fine, whatever... I finished my training at that gym, I followed my former trainer to the gym I was told he was at. When I get there, I'm told by Jose (a sleaze bag manager and ""owner"" of the company or so he says) that he kicked my trainer out and he's now at the Scottsdale location. Initially I was angry, but since I live in Scottsdale, better for me. Upon my arrival to the Scottsdale location, I purchase training from Mike, I'm in heaven again. The next day, I show up for my session and my trainer is no longer with the company. The feed me some cock-and-bull story about what happened and then proceed to tell me how bad of person he is. This continues for several months each time I come into the Scottsdale location. Now I wonder, if he was so bad, why was he employed for 7 years? Why did everyone have glowing things to say about him when I mentioned his name? By shere coincidence I run into Mike at a restaurant I frequesnt with my partner and we talk about what happened. He has nothing but great things to say about his former employers even after I tell him what his former boss, Josh, was saying about him. I find out where Mike is working and join that gym and purchase training. When word gets back to the higher ups at Pure Fitness, I then have 2 managers pulling me into an office and they begin to threaten me and tell me they are going to ""hit Mike with a $10,000 lawsuit"" for stealing me from them. What a shady way to intimidate business. Needless to say after talking with a few other current Pure Fitness employees, this is a regular occurance. Once a valued employee leaves, they do everything to discredit them and put fear in those who they helped, so they dont loose more business. Jose, Josh, Will and Tim should all be ashamed of themselves. Stooping so low for a buck. This is the reason I have chose to stop paying for all of my employees memberships at Pure Fitness. If they're willg to lie about a log term employee, what are they willing to do to a consumer. And by looking at the at all the consumer websites, I see I'm not the only one screwed over by Neil Schober and his band of thieves. more
