Best

I had a great experience here in Pura Vida Tapas and Bar The service is great and the crew is very helpful and kind

Worst

I'm completely baffled as to how people can give excellent reviews for this place. In addition, to whomever wrote the citysearch review saying that the tapas plates are a steal, W...

Great Tapas Place 5/10/2006

Out favorite tapas place in town...make sure to try the mussels, they are the best item on the menu, although the duck is also outstanding. Fantatic place to drop in for a Mojito at the bar as well, they are as good as any around. The place is small though - so be prepared to wait a while without a reservation! more

Great place for a special occasion for just a great meal. more

Favorite 1/10/2006

We come here for my birthday and for anniversaries or other couple-type events and it has never been less than outstanding. I would melt if a first date brought me here. The duck is the best duck dish I've ever had, and I think we've tried everything on the menu by now with delicious results. We order 6 tapas for 2 of us, then 2 desserts and 2 drinks, and get out for about $60. You can't beat that! The service has always been great. You must try the chocolate flan with the chilis!! So good! Make reservations. Pros: Best tapas in town, Reasonable price, Fantastic ambiance Cons: Not open for lunch, Bad parking more

Hidden Treasure 1/8/2006

Great spot for a quiet dinner out, perhaps a marriage propasal or just a get together with close friends. The wait staff is impecible from the Matre de to the dishwasher. I have traveled all over Europe and Asia. The food and atmoshere will be hard to match anywhere. We will defintely return. Pros: Food, Service, Special consideration more

Pura Vida 12/31/2005

Great food - Prompt service -Very loud music that forces you to yell at your dining partner. Pros: food , service , surrondings Cons: music volume, parking more

Mediocre 12/11/2005

The tapas were rather mediocre in quality - salad dressing was gloppy & lettuce was still wet, patatas were bland, etc. In short, there are other choices in Atlanta that are far better! Pros: Service (great), Ambience Cons: Food quality, Wait on weekends more

Nice time, romantic date 12/8/2005

Be sure to order at least 4-5 plates for 2 people. The wine pairings that they have are fun to try. Great Mojito. And be sure to make reservations, espcially on the weekends. more

would go back for drinks 10/29/2005

reservations are highly recommened. the food is not great and you would have to order atleast 3 plates if your really hungry. there's a small area where lots of folks were dancing to the latino music-that was nice. Pros: dancing, mojitos were good Cons: wait for table, crowded, food not great more

The date spot... 10/19/2005

If you are looking for a place for a first date or romantic evening.....Look no further. The best value and fun for a date I have experienced. Think about this place for Valentines.......It is great and so much cheeper than some of the places around on that day. more

Best Tapas in Atlanta 8/3/2005

Pura Vida is one of my favorite date spots. The food and service are consistently good and the value is one of the best in the city. I highly reccomend the duck, tostones and tuna. Pros: value, service, food more

Fun Place with great food and drinks 7/17/2005

If you want great margaritas with great service and excellent small plates in a fun atmosphere, then Pura Vida is your place. We always enjoy ourselves and have a great meal. It is especially fun with a group. Pros: small plates, Atmosphere, margaritas Cons: parking a problem more

Great service, tapas unimpressive 7/1/2005

This place is really cool inside, nice decor, great service. Too bad the food fails to impress. The portions are not substantial enough to justify the prices and nothing I had was worth ordering again. Lots of potential though! Pros: great location, cool artwork, great service Cons: overpriced, subpar food more

Food was Not that Good 6/26/2005

This is definitely a restaurant where they only do a few dishes really well and the rest is subpar. The couple next to us seemed to know what they were doing and everything looked deliciuos. The Duck and Beef were awful. The service was good and they comped what wasn't eaten. Cool concept, just not that good. Pros: Good Service Cons: Hit or Miss Food more

Good latin cuisine 6/21/2005

First let me say I loved the food. Believe it when people tell you - tapas are really tiny portions! However, despite the small portions, the combinations of flavors in the food completely overshadowed the portions. The service was really good. Attentive and extremely helpful. We had the DUCK-MADUROS NAPOLEON, HONGOS AL CHIPOTLE-AJILLO, MOFONGO ECUATORIANO, HANGER STEAK PINCHOS and a couple of other things . All worth noting! The Mojitos are worth noting also. We went for a romantic birthday dinner - and it was just perfect. Pros: service, food, good parking more

Great Nightspot 6/12/2005

I have been to Pura Vida several times in the last year. Every time I go, I am impressed with the quality of the food and the great service provided by the staff. Although I am not familiar with some of the ingredients, the dishes we've tried are always fresh and flavorful. I have taken several friends on many occasions and we always have a great time. We especially enjoyed trying the various Latin wines and drinks. I'm so glad to find a great restaurant that doesn't cost me a fortune to have a good time. Pros: Good food & drink, Good service, Unique menu Cons: Wish it was larger more

Great Food!!! 6/12/2005

Ate at Pura Vida for the first time the other day - amazing!! Every single thing we tried was perfect! We visited because some friends told us it was a ""can't miss"", and they were right. Duck, ceviche, bbq beef, shrimp, mushrooms, delicious little steak kebob thingys, everything was delicious. The restaurant has a warm cozy ambience and the service was efficient and friendly. If you like really good food and you haven't been here yet, you owe it to yourself to visit! Pros: Food!, Food!, Food! more

GREAT FOOD, SERVICE AND VALUE! 6/11/2005

I had dinner at Pura Vida this week, and as usual the food, service and entire experience was wonderful! I've been many times and the food is always great. We always find the staff to be very friendly, knowledgable and attentive. We tried some of the new menu items that were just added... a spicy aspargus linguini, a malanga pasta filled with cod fish in a cream sauce with truffles that was devine! and the mofongo with mango salsa. Everything was delicious! The food is very creative, attractive and well seasoned. Where else in Atlanta can you go and try such creative wonderful food, with great wine or mojitos for about $30 per person? Pura Vida has my vote for best tapas restaurant! Pros: good value, great food, friendly staff more

Muy Bueno!! 6/10/2005

My wife and I have been regular clients since Hector opened this Puertorrican jewel. I have no doubt all our friends have been very impressed and in turn have become addicted to these gourmet tapas as well. The food is authentic Latino and prepared to very high standards, trust me I am from Puerto Rico and know my mother's cooking very well. Go and enjoy an unhurried drink with 4 or 5 tapas while cozing up to a Latin romantic tune. Pros: Gourmet, Unhurried, Moderately priced Cons: Demanding customers, Parking accross the s more

Horrible Service 6/9/2005

The first time I went to Pura Vida, I was very impressed. But, over the last couple of years, every time we go, the service is EXTREMELY bad. The staff always seems like they wish we weren't there...like we're a bother. Hopefully, this place has cleaned up it's act, but I'll never find out because I'll never go back. I will say this...the food is good (a bit over priced), but not worth the torment of having to deal with the bad service. It's enough to ruin a potentially fun night. Pros: good food Cons: BAD SERVICE, RUDE PEOPLE, over priced more

Do not miss this jewell! 1/12/2005

We dine at Pura Vida regularly and have attended a few private parties there. They never fail to deliver. We have never had poor service. The food is great every single time. The staff is always friendly. We have not found better Sangria in all of Atlanta and the duck & maduros napoleon is possibly one of the most divine things I have ever eaten. My only complaint is that we never leave with small bill. The tapas are amzing but it takes at least eight for two of us to be full and at 6.00 a plate plus wines the tab adds up quickly. Despite that we keep going back and enoy it each and every time. Do not miss this jewel of a restaurant! Pros: Food and Sangria, Service, Ambiance more
