I came to know Sharon as part of a delegation of nationwide women traveling to North Africa. Months before the trip, she introduced herself via email, as the whole group did, and offered to again take the initiative of compiling a comprehensive reading list to ensure we'd all be thoroughly prepared for our adventure. The reaction to her offer was unanimously positive. The previous year, she had done extensive research for the group's tour to Egypt and Jordan. The reading list she circulated made an major difference in the cultural understanding of the trip, and all of us traveling with her were thrilled that she would again take the lead. And for our most recent tour of India, she was once again an invaluable asset by acquainting our group in advance with the cultural aspects of the trip, such as appropriate clothing, mannerisms, greetings and gifts. I was wowed by her enthusiasm and professionalism before I even met her. And when you do meet her, she is gracious and engaging - of course, she is a protocol expert! However, it is also her training as an attorney that gives her added depth and dimension, and the greatest of respect from her peers. But what I am especially touched by is her generosity of spirit. I have since enjoyed several professional engagements with her, including her lead in coordinating a meeting for me with the Moroccan Ambassador to the United Nations which added enhancements to a tour to Morocco that I was coordinating. As the Director of Events for Women's Global Network (Austin and Houston), I had the pleasure of asking Sharon if she would be willing to give a global etiquette presentation to our members. To my delight, she agreed! Not only was Sharon a true professional, but her bubbly personality was infectious. I had the fortune of having Mrs. Schweitzer stand in during semester for an Austin Community College teacher. The class was International Conventions. Protocol and Etiquette come into play a great deal with this class course. Mrs. Schweitzer brought it all to life with her experience and wisdom in the international business world. She used skits and examples to make points that we would not forget. For anyone who plans to travel international or works in the international realm I would recommend taking her class immediately. You will learn so much so fast that could save you from making serious social mistakes. We were all truly blessed to have her as an instructor.
