in 2009 I hired an attorney, Vanessa Vanderbrug, who works for Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC. My case involved employment law issues. Vanessa did a good job in representing me in my case. In 2011 our case went to mediation and we won a reasonable settlement. At that time I was happy with her efforts and support in resolving a difficult case and situation for me. \r

Sixteen months after the conclusion of the case and the end of the attorney client contract, it was brought to my attention, in writing from an attorney at HIP, that my attorney, Vanessa Vanderbrug, may have violated attorney/client confidentiality by discussing personal medical information with another attorney in the firm. I had not given Vanessa Vanderbrug permission to speak to this attorney, and there is no reason for her to be discussing my case 16 months after the case ended. I attempted to contact Vanessa Vanderbrug several times to find out what was going on. She has refused to speak with me in person, by phone, by email, or through another attorney. I offered to pay for her time, at $250.00 per hour, to try to resolve the issue. That offer was refused. Hanis Irvine Prothero has chosen to support Vanessa Vanderbrug and has forbidden me from contacting, or attempting to contact, any lawyer in their firm for any reason and again, will not offer an explanation as to why. \r

Something is going on and they refuse to own up to it or admit to anything.\r

I highly recommend that anyone looking for legal assistance AVOID Vanessa Vanderbrug and Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC in Kent Wa. Vanessa Vanderbrug is certainly not the person you want to work with if she cannot maintain client confidentiality and respect, admit to mistakes, or take responsibility for her actions. She won't even explain her actions to determine if she did indeed commit an ethical violation or if it is just a simple misunderstanding.\r

Hanis Irvine Prothero sells itself as a solid member of the legal community and they even make the following promises in their pledge; ""We are determined to provide exceptional service to our clients in a wide array of legal issues while maintaining the highest professional standards."" ""The attorneys and support staff at Hanis Irvine Prothero are driven to achieve client satisfaction. In handling any matter, we will address the entirety of our clients' needs competently, aggressively, and with complete confidentiality."" ""Our goal is to help resolve the clients' legal challenges with as little financial and emotional turmoil as possible."" ""We will advise you of your options and offer our recommendations, but most importantly, we will act with respect to your needs and choices.""\r
\r
That certainly isn't the law firm I am dealing with...one that backs their attorney who may have committed a serious legal and ethical violation. A firm that refuses to meet to resolve the issue, a firm who refuses to accept payment to resolve the issue, and a firm who, without just cause, has take a discriminatory stance in refusing to allow me to speak to any attorney in their firm for any reason. They are certainly not the law firm that speaks of high professional standards, client satisfaction, complete confidentiality, and respect to a clients needs and choices.\r

There are many good attorneys and ethical law firms out there to chose from when you need legal advice or representation. Vanessa Vanderbrug, and Hanis Irvine Prothero certainly do not fit in that category..
