The Experience
Tip Sheet
Any time of year is a perfect time, the cooler foothill weather makes the area comfortable for tropical and alpine big cats, as well as human visitors. This area attraction in the foothills near Fresno holds several species of "big cats," and shelters many endangered and threatened large cat species. The haven works with zoos and wildlife biologists that procure research on the big cats in attempts to update textbook information on them. Visitors learn about the majestic animals as they tour the grounds, often making discoveries right alongside park researchers.
The Best
Bengal tigers, clouded leopards, and a pair of breeding snow leopards make their home at the haven. Watching the animals interact with one another is a humbling and unforgettable experience.
The Rest
Guides take visitors on a quarter-mile tour of the haven, learning about the endangered cats. The tours also show how many researchers are working within the park to fight the animals' extinction with research, medical care, and breeding programs.. Barbara E. Hernandez
