$85,000! I was sweating bullets after I found out that my loan modification was going to cost me $85,000 in taxes! That's right, $85,000! Thanks to Gil, it wasn't a problem. He made it go away...legally. He is practically a magician. Everyone is great over there! But for me, what makes them stand out far above the rest is their expertise. What Mike C. said....yeah thats it! We randomly searched Yelp for tax preparers in San Diego and came across Mike C's review. Sounded too good to be true so we decided to bite. Good thing...Gil Martinez is the sheeeit! He really DOES know what he's doing and the best part about him is that he is STRAIGHT UP! He tells it like it is but somehow makes getting your taxes "done" entertaining and pleasurable (if you can believe that-ha!). Granted we didn't have some outrageous situation to get under control but we had some not so common issues that we believe only Gil could've helped us understand and cheerfully deal with. You SO need to see Gil. I know we will continue to do so. more

So... this is for those of you out there paralyzed by some tax problem you think is insurmountable, unsolvable, ...ineffable? (Never really knew what that word meant.) Gil did a great job for us, fixing several years of problematic returns in very short order, and he did it with style. more

He does a lot more than taxes; even has a construction company. But since I'll I've used are his tax prep services, that's all I can talk about. more

Sensible, level-headed, meticulous... fascinating?! When's the last time you heard THAT about your accountant? But true enough, Gil is both a great tax guy AND a fount of knowledge, some of which goes way beyond the usual "federal & state". His office is set up so that as he works on your return, you can see exactly what he's doing on a monitor facing your direction. And while he was going through my tax situation (which was, uh, a little complex), he struck up a conversation that ranged from good places to shop for mexican food, to the best bars in heidelberg (!), to how the mortgage implosion isn't even really started yet... hard to explain how we hit on all those topics, but it was a lot of fun to hang out in his office.Of course, you don't NEED to be in his office - I was, like I said, a special case. Even if you just drop off your paperwork (and he does returns for people who mail their docs to him from Las Vegas, overseas, etc), he's always done a really quick and thorough job; and his rates are better than fair. (In fact, after a minor screwup on billing - I mean really minor - he gave me my 2009 return for free.) more

Best Tax Service Ever! I was looking at a $275000.00 tax liability and they were able to fix it completely. They know the law and work with professionals in the industry to make sure that you are safe secure and legal. Yes I went there with a huge problem that they were able to resolve, but not only did the resolve it, they sagely instructed me how to set up my books so that if I did get audited I would be able to coast through it without a problem.
