I surprised my husband yesterday with a trip out to Half Moon Bay for his birthday. After a relaxing horseback ride on the beach, I took him to lunch at the Princeton Seafood Company restaurant on Pillar Point. This was our first visit to this restaurant, but it won't be our last! What a pleasant surprise for both of us! The hostess greeted us warmly, and seated us immediately. Our server, Melissa, was prompt, cheerful and attentive. We started our meal with oysters on the half shell, which were the freshest and most delicious oysters we have ever had (& we have them often!) The perfectly seasoned homemade New England style clam chowder was the best we've ever eaten (east or west coast). My husband ordered fish and chips and I had the fried calamari. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. Marty (the owner) took the time to meet & talk with us during the busy lunchtime, and made us feel very welcome. The ambiance was clean, casual and comfortable. The menu offered a nice variety and was reasonably priced. The ample portions were more than adequate: We took home leftovers, & skipped dinner. We live in San Jose, & usually go to Santa Cruz when dining out for seafood, as we are very picky about having only fresh seafood; but we think driving the extra few minutes is definitely worth the trip over to Half Moon Bay for a great meal at the Princeton Seafood Company restaurant. Not at all pretentious, just a really nice down-to-earth place to eat.
Pros: Excellent Food and Service.
