Steaks that melt in your mouth 12/16/2005

My experience at Prime Only was exceptional. The steaks were cooked to perfection-the NY Strip and the 6 oz filet were exquisite. The Brie Salad was unbelieveable. Terrible 11/29/2005

I went to Prime Only twice. Once with my family and second time with another couple. In both instances, the atmosphere and food were both terrible. Two distinct problems: 1. Wine Celler is all smoking. No sign anywhere to indicate that the entire area was smoking. My guests were allergic to cigar smoke. 2. Steaks were fatty and expensive. I consider Prime Only to be a date place, but not a destination for food. Lots of young people like to hang out and waste money for dates. Not recommended for serious eaters. The service was excellent, every bite of food was good, and the bill was less than I thought it would be ($100 for two salads, two entrees, a HUGE dessert, two alcoholic drinks, and two coffees). If You Haven't Eaten Here, You're Missing Out! 9/3/2005

We went to Prime Only for our second wedding anniversary on Tuesday night. It was INCREDIBLE. We had planned to go to Sullivan's but found it was being renovated. We're so glad!! My filet was so tender I could cut it with my fork!! Our waiter, Greg, provided impeccable service. We couldn't believe we've lived in Raleigh three years and hadn't found this treasure. Can it match my steak? 7/30/2005

Nowhere in the world have I found a steak that I would consider as tasty as my own charcoal grilled, wood smoked Ribeye. Okay, I stand corrected. The Ribeye with no topping was extraordinary. My wife still raves about the Filet Oscar. I have to raise it up a notch now to keep up with Prime Only. If you arrive early you may not need a reservation, but I would recommend one to ensure yourself an enjoyable meal without a wait. more

Wake Up North Raleigh..... 3/22/2005

Shamefully, I've been led to believe the only nightlife in Raleigh is on Glenwood South. That is definitely NOT true. For the ""not-so-30"" crowd, Prime Only is the perfect place to gather with friends to have a meal to remember (the prime rib is of superb quality, the filet cuts like butter, and the ribs can feed two). Other notables from the menu would be the calamari (lightly breaded and fried to perfection, large serving) and the sauteed mushroom (ample serving of large mushrooms). I wouldn't recommend the stuffed mushrooms as they are small and not worth the money. If you want mushrooms, get the sauteed ones. Perfect Business Dinner 9/15/2004

I was entertaining some important clients in from out of town and wanted everything to be perfect. I pondered quite a bit about where to go, and though I've heard good things about Sullivan's and some others, I've heard even better about Prime Only. It was my first time there, but I decided I'd give it a try. Let me just say, I am very pleased with my decision. I could not have asked for things to go better. The service was second to none, both personable and professional. The food was served at a nice pace, and we never felt rushed. Everything arrived steaming hot, and the food is to die for!! When you're in the mood for a relaxing and fabulous dinner, Prime Only should be the only name you think of. Kudos, keep up the good work. I know I'll be back!! The bread was good. Everything else was dissapointing. Especially the service. For a high priced restaurant, the waitstaff needs to be more informed about the wine selection. Speaking of wine selection....it seems as if they have a good one, but only about a half dozen or so are available by the glass. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to my friends and/or family. An absolutely perfect meal! 1/2/2004

Tonight I treated my husband to dinner at Prime Only for his 40th birthday. This was our first visit. This was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had - and I've dined around the world. Jimmie, our waiter, was absolute perfection. He was extremely professional, yet very personable. I cannot compliment him enough. He was attentive, yet not overbearing. And the food - wow! I moved here from Texas two years ago, and have had some wonderful steak dinners in my life. I have to say that the steak I enjoyed tonight (the 16 oz. ribeye) was one of the best I've ever had. Every aspect of the meal was perfect - from the bread, to the salad, right down to the creme brulee we shared for dessert. Prime Only is at the top of my list of favorite restaurants not only in Raleigh, but anywhere. Pros: Fantastic food, Excellent wait staff, Great ambience more

I love this place. They perfectly season the beef and bring great salads and sides. Wonderful wine and terrific coffee. I've eaten there several times and never once had a bad meal. LOVE IT!!! more

Prime Only has the best steaks around, with the fresh garlic on top there is nothing better. There is even plently of choices for those who do not eat beef. Pros: great food, usually not crowded more

Best Place In Raleigh 5/29/2003

The atmosphere and food here are by far the best that Raleigh has to offer. If you really want to go to a relaxing place and have dinner you will take the time to check out this place. With its own wine store built in to the resturant, it makes having a bottle of wine so simple. Insider note, order wine from the store and pay the cork fee and you are sure to come out cheaper. Plus you get any bottle of wine they have in the store. Appeteasers are also a huge hit here. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Better than Angus Barn 10/27/2002

Having dined a few times at Angus Barn and other steakhouses around town, I've come to appreciate the quality of meat and menu options at Prime Only. Have had consistently excellent dinners. Excellent seasonal vegetable of the day and your choice of numerous types of potatoes or rice come with dinner. Service staff is well trained and non-obtrusive. They have a private dining room for a party group who might otherwise be noisy in the main dining area. Soft lighting, easy for conversations. And about the best steaks around. Try the mignons with the garlic butter. Chef/owner stops by to check on your dining experience. Pros: good menu, quiet dining, good parking Cons: no place to wait, while table set up more

Best of the Best 10/19/2002

My girlfriend and i were searching for somewhere to celebrate our anniversary and a friend of mine told me about Prime Only. He said that it was the best and friendliest restaurant in the triangle because of the way everyone treats him when he arrives. Upon arriving i was greated like a guest in a friends home and we were taken immediately to a quiet romantic table and treated to one of the greatest meals of my life. Thanks to my friend for recommending our newest favorite restaurant. more

Awesome Anniversary Restaurant 8/24/2002

I took my wife here for our 10 year anniversary. The staff, atmosphere, food, and service were fantastic. The sour dough bread was delicious, 8oz filet mignon was absolutely perfect, my wife loved her shrimp, and the bananas foster was the best I've ever had. They manager allowed me to set the mood by bringing roses in and picking the table earlier in the day. Our waiter was very courteous. I can't say enough good things about this place.
