In the past i was a long time customer of this store. Originally it was built for Krogers and then became Country Fair and finally it is now Priced Right Foods. While there are still bargins to be had i have chosen to stop shopping with them. My reason is the recent adoption of their ""Forced Purchase Policy"". In other words the only way you get the listed sale price is if you buy the specified quantity of the item. I was unaware that this had became a policy until recently. It never was before. For example the ad may have biscuits listed 5 for $5.00 (lets just say the regular price is $1.79 each). You have to buy all 5 to get them for $1.00 each. This actually happened to me a few weeks ago. Unaware of the new policy i purchased only 2 and when i looked at my reciept and saw that i paid nearly $4.00 for only 2 items and for roughly another $1.00 i could have gotten 3 more i was very upset. Being single i can not use 5 cans of biscuits before they would go bad. It was then that i decided i will not shop there anymore. We still have other grocery stores in the town that do not require the ""forced purchases"" and it makes much more sense for me to give my business to them. Why didn't i contact the store to voice my opinion? I fully intended to until i took the time to re-read the sale ad. Sure enough in very fine print it is listed and says ""all multiple price items require the multiple purchase to recieve sale price. Therefore i didn't really have a legitimate complaint. However as i've already stated i will not shop there in the future just because of this reason. While some things may be able to be used up in a short time most things wouldn't be. Especially when it's something that you might have to buy 5 or even 10 items to get the sale price. While this might be fine for a large family it in no way helps an elderly person living by themselves or any single person for that matter.
Pros: Low cost on lots of items.
Cons: Forced Purchase Items
