Wonderfully Curious Clothing 11/20/2006

I wandered into Pretty Parlor upon moving up to Capitol Hill in July 2006. I was warmly greeted by a woman with dark, short hair with hot pink streaks. Lovely. It turns out she was the owner, Anna. I was in a little bit of a hurry to gather some hopeful gifts for my mother's 50th birthday, so she helped me find a beautifully made light pink leather pocket book, as well as a pair of crystal earrings. I was in and out in 15 minutes, made it to the party on time and my mother absolutely adored them. Anna not only knew how to be of immense help, she also genuinely cared about why I was there. I stopped back in for a present for my father's birthday, admittedly a little skeptical because he is extremely hard to shop for. I found a pair of turquoise and gold flaked cufflinks for him. Perfect. He loved the gift! Needless to say, I have been stopping in ever since. Pros: Service is spectacular! Friendly and helpfull. Cons: Some of the prices are a little higher than I can afford. :( more

like no other shop in Seattle 11/19/2006

Shopping at Pretty Parlor is like finding the big sister I never had. The staff there is warm, inviting, and awesome, and will happily take the time to deck you out in the silliest of costumes or the coolest of threads, for any occasion. I heart the hell outta Pretty Parlor!!!! Pros: service, staff, style, SENSATIONAL Cons: parking more

Home Away From Home... 11/19/2006

Pretty in pink 11/19/2006

Pretty Parlor is my most favorite place to shop in Seattle. Between the fashion shows, the onsite tailor, and the excitment just bursting out of it, it's always a treat to go to. There's an energy there that's severely lacking in most clothing stores in Seattle. Never surly or bored, Anna and Ruthie are the two sweetest girls you could have to help you shop, and they are always enthusiastic. I wish the rest of Seattle would follow their footsteps, and live every day to the fullest. Pros: The beautiful pink decor, the friendliest girls in town, the best in local indie designers Cons: There's only one of them. more

Small stock of vintage clothes at average prices 8/26/2006

Perhaps I was there on an off day, but I don't understand what all the excitement in the other reviews is about. I excitedly went to this shop while visiting Seattle. I have a collection of vintage clothing in varying conditions and have paid varying prices, but I was in and out of this store in minutes without a second glance ant anything they had. \r \r I found the stock to be pretty low. Many of the items were stained or damaged, certainly not things I would wear to special events. The prices were not high on their own, but when condition is taken into account, I think they were. Pros: vintage clothes, tailor onsite, small selection from local designers Cons: high prices given poor condition of vintage ware more

Great Exprience, Fun & Quirky 9/3/2003

I've had 2 of my best retail experiences at the Pretty Parlor. The owner, Anna, has a great talent for picking out clothes for you. I don't really like shopping, and she picked the PERFECT dress for me at the last minute for wedding. Everything she's pulled out for me fits (amazingly) and her store has a full range of clothes from classic vintage to asymetrical modern stuff. Pros: Service, Variety, Fun! more

Simply Spectacular 8/21/2003

I went from a style-less simp to a swanky, swaggering stud simply by standing in the store and soaking up the displays. By the time the beautiful Banana bid me goodbye, I'd bought about 4 bags of booty, and embarked on a brand-new beginning to my beleaguered-turned-bountiful bachelorhood. Bueno! Pros: Fanciful, Fun, Frugal more

The most awesomest place ever! 8/20/2003

The people at the Pretty Parlor up on Phinney have outdone themselves. This is not just another vintage store, but a carefully crafted world. Here, you'll find some of the most unique things as is evident in their frequent fashion shows they host - complete with bands and revelers. Step in and check out what they've got. You'll be glad you did!! Pros: great selection, incredible staff, pink! more

heavenly 8/20/2003

Not just a place to shop...a place to BE. Great variety of stuff from kitsch to hip art/crafts to high-romantique fashions. Super friendly staff, easy going and comfortable. Worth checking in on a weekly basis. more

Prettiest Parlor of them all! 8/19/2003

Aside from several other adorable and well priced vintage items I've purchased at Pretty Parlor, I also bought my wedding dress - a delicious pale green, silk 40's number - there as well and I received compliments aplenty on that number. The staff (especially that handsome kitty!) are the best and it's one of the most unpretentious boutiques in the city. more

so dang fun!! 8/19/2003

I was on the hunt for something fab to wear to a luau and the owner, Anna Banana, was there and handed me about 6 different options. And they all fit so well. . .she knows her stuff and is super down to earth, yet her shop is out of this world!! And to top it all of, when I couldn't decide between my two fav options, she cut me a deal so I could take it all home with me!!! I Love Pretty Parlor!!! Pros: knowledgable staff, low-key environment, something for everyon more

Delightful!! 8/19/2003

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Pretty Parlor is an absolute delight. Very cute and funky vintage clothes including the cutest tutus for little ones. The staff is really helpful and honest about what will fit and what probably won't. It's a really fun place to shop! Pros: Great Clothes, Nice Staff, Variety more
