Editorial review from Citysearch 10/25/2012

I have a medium-sized practice with plenty of staff on hand, however, the Patient Assistance Programs are very lengthy and time consuming. I do not have the staff or resources to pay one of my nurses to take care of such tedious paperwork that allows my patients to receive their medications. I decided that I would have Prescription Hope take over all of my paperwork to ensure that my patients would continue receiving their medications and at a very low cost. Most of my patients are on medications that would typically cost them well over $200.00 a month and Prescription Hope’s program only charges $18.00 a month for each prescription which is a major savings for all of my patients. I am very grateful that such a program exists so that I can continue to help my patients. more

I received from a patient of mine, paperwork to fill out from Prescription Hope on her behalf. I am appalled that such an unethical company seeks to exploit money from an already poor population who cannot afford medications. Prescription Hope has the nerve to send out patient assistance program (PAP) forms from drug companies and ask physicians to fill them out then turns around and charges the patients for medications which are being provided free of charge by the drug companies to the physician's office for the patient to pick up. PAP forms are provided free of charge from the drug companies to patients with a section for them to fill out and a section for the doctor to fill out. The drug company, if they decide to provide the medications, then delivers it for free to the doctor’s office for the patient to pick up. This despicable company charges poor people a twenty dollar annual service fee and $18.00/month/prescription for these free medications. This is exploitation of an underserved and poor population. While I do not know if such an unethical practice is illegal it is disgusting to take advantage of such an poor population. Many doctor’s offices provide assistance with filling out this paperwork for patients without cost, in such a poor population there really is no other option. This company should be ashamed that they profit off such a population who could access these medications for free. more
