Editorial review from Citysearch 12/7/2012

We had been to several different vets before a co-worker recommended Powder Ridge. I wish I had taken my pets here first, before any of the others. Dr. Brooks and his staff are top notch, friendly, easy to talk to and honest. We have cats and dogs, and when we had to put one of our dogs down, we were beyond heartbroken and I cried for a week up to that moment. They put us in a room with our pet and gave us as much time as we needed on our own to say our goodbyes, and they were so gentle and compassionate. It was something I will never forget and will always appreciate. They treat my pets like members of their own families. Thank you to Dr. Brooks for your dedication to animals. more

BEST VET EVER 11/8/2011

I TOO DRIVE IOVER AN HOUR TO TAKE MY DOGS TO HIM. Having purchased a German Shepard pupply 13 years ago, find a vet for someone like myself had been a bigger task than I thought. Upon seeing 5 different vets of which I can just say their attitude and demeanor was of a nature that was, I felt, talking down to me. NOT HERE. Finally, after 3 years and six puppies later, I found a vet who treated me as an owner who genuinely cared for the health and well-being of their dog. Sadly, Heidi's life came to an end due to her old age, but Dr. Larry and the staff were once again AWESOME. If you're looking for a vet who truly understands what it means to be a dog lover or cat lover or animal lover THEN THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. When and if I decide to get another K-9, it is the ONE AND ONLY PLACE, I would ever take an animal to be treated. THEY ARE THE BEST. LARRY, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. (YOU TOO STAFF). Guy. more

great hospital 7/29/2010

My doggies had puppies. I didn't get shots for any of them because I planned on finding homes for them. Unfortunately they became really sick at 3 months of age. I had no idea what was wrong. I was recommended to take them to Powder Ridge. They were fantastic. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. They were able to diagnose that one of the puppies had the Parvo virus. That recommended that I take her to Pieper Olsen because she needed round the clock care. Because of their help they saved my baby. Unfortunately one of the puppies did not make it. He didn't seem like he was that sick, but then i came home and he was barely breathing. I rushed him to the emergency vet in Cheshire, but my little sweetheart did not make it. This was such a horrible, terrible experience. Everyone needs to be aware of the Parvo virus, and all others. It is a disastrous disease. All animals should be vaccinated, and kept up to date. I feel that if I didn't bring my Peanut to Powder Ridge she might have never been diagnosed right. And I could have lost her and her other sister and brother. Powder Ridge is an awesome animal hospital, and I definitely would recommend it, and go back. more

I drive almost an hour to use Dr. Brooks & Staff ! 12/2/2008

Dr. Brooks was recommended to us by a breeder. We started bringing our dog there, and what he was able to do for our dog was wonderful. He's not just a pill pusher like some other vetrinarians that just treat symptoms instead of trying to find an underlying cause. He doesn't charge a fortune, like most other vets. I drive almost an hour to bring my dog there and think it's well worth the drive. We've always been treated wonderfully, and have always been happy with our results. We had to have our dog put to sleep in July, and everyone was very compassionate, I think they were as upset as I. Except for absolute emergencies (and then I have a vet closer to home that I like), I wouldn't bring my dog anywhere else ! Pros: Everything ! Cons: Nothing ! more

Most compassionate 9/17/2008

I wouldn't take my animals to any other vet. They are by far the most compassionate, caring, gentle animal people anywhere. They go out of their way to make the best of a bad situation, or the most joyous of a good one.\r I've been using them since 1982? and I would recommend them to anyone. more

Won't take our pets anywhere else! 8/5/2008

The staff at Powder Ridge Vet Hospital are amazingly friendly, accommodating, and compassionate. We have 2 dogs and a cat and the staff have always been gentile and patient with our pets. One of our dogs had an allergic reaction to a vaccination and stopped breathing as we were on our way back to the vet with him. I showed up hysterical that my puppy wasn't breathing and was having a reaction to something. They immediately took him from my arms and gave him a shot of medication to reverse the reaction. The vet techs explained everything that was happening as the doctor worked on my puppy in the back. The staff were so patient and compassionate and didn't let me leave until I was calm and reassured that my puppy would be just fine. As for our routine visits, again they are a great group of vet techs and doctor, always so helpful and professional. My husband and I very highly reccommend Powder Ridge Veterinary Hospital. We won't take our pets anywhere else! Pros: Friendly, accommodating staff, good prices, amazing service Cons: Sometimes a long wait for available appointments. more

Highly recommended 2/5/2008

My Doberman was diagnosed with cancer & the staff & Dr. Brooks were so understanding. I stayed while they euthanized my dog and they gave me every consideration possible, answered all my questions and were very compassionate. When the time comes for a new doberman to find its way into my life, this will be our vet of choice. I would like to thank everyone at Powder Ridge for all they have done.\r Lisa Vitale more

Powder Ridge Veterinary Hospital 1/15/2008

I have five cats now, all in their teens. Powder Ridge Veterinary Hospital has always been accomodating, commassionate and Honest with myself and my family. I have been taking my cats there for the last 18 years. Twice, the vet stayed late to save my cats life when they had a urinary blockages. Emergency appointments with a prior call to them for a ""heads-up"" were not a problem either. I have had the honor of a home vet visit when I had a cat that was not travelling well. This office has gone above and beyond my expectations of the years.\r more
