Powder Mill Village

I lived there for 10 years because it was very nice at one time. The grounds were kept better than most complexes and maintenance service was quick and efficient. The playgrounds and pool were below expectations and parking could be a challenge. In over ten years, both of my card were never vandalized and broken into. Rent increases became more aggressive year after year and the quality of tenants who advocate a clean safe community began to decline. Pest infestation seems to differ building to building so be sure to ask and observe. Mgmt is very revenue focused: pay your rent on time or get a notice period. Drive through the community at night before you enter into a contract to determine if Powder Mill is your cup of tea. The included utilities is the biggest pro and draw . Don't let the other two reviews fool you...the biggest problem for me is there's a roach infestation throughout the complex including the day care. And to my knowledeg that is the case with all Southern Mangement Apartments. I have even seen roachs on several occasions on the exterior walls of the buildings. I learned not long after I first moved in that the complex had never had a extermination process and when they finally did implement one your apartment would only be exterminated maybe once very six months. there are only two washers and dryers to a building of 8 to 11 apartments. The only part of the complex that looks worth living in is the the apartment closer to the front and the aprtments that can viewed form the side street when passing by the complex.And that is obivously well kept for the main purpose to pull in the customers. the parking is very limited and there's no visitor's parking. By 2:00am your visitor's must be out of the parking lot of they will be towed. So whe more

this place is nce and good if you have a car. Especially for UM students, they have the shuttle stop pretty nearby. It is a good place and the rooms are really big. A 3 bed room apt can have 5 people more thancomfortably. And, this is the only apartment in the neighbour hood that has 2 bed and 2 bath (2 bath part is emphasized). rent is pretty cheap PROS: Rent CONS: more

PMV is a nice complex. Don't let the outside appearance fool you. Though the exteriors of the buildings are a bit outdated (flat roofs, some of the patios need to be painted) the insides of the apartments are clean and spacious. The grounds are well kept and the pool area is nice. There are tennis and basketball courts as well, and daycare (for children 2+ years). The few complaints I have are: coin-op laundry in the basement (though the machines work well); loud dumpster-collection trucks that come at 4 am; thin walls (but this'll happen anywhere).
