UN-EDUCATED PUPPY BUYERS, NOT POSH PUPPYS FAULT..... (Read) 1/25/2009

Ok, I have read through some of these reports, and i had to sign up just to say what I think. Last Valentines day I took my fiance to Las Vegas and then out to California. When we got there I went to the Beverly Hills location and bought the dog I PICKED ON THE INTERNET..... Now, I didn't even do research but i do know this, ANY species have difficulty during birth. Pros: Amazing Puppies Cons: PROTESTORS.... more

FANTASTIC 9/9/2008

This is a great store...friendly owners....very helpful! We've purhased 2 yorkies and visit often to see the puppies (although it's hard to leave without one!) Pros: Knowledgeable and helpful Cons: N/A more

unfortunate but I am still happy with my dog 8/19/2008

It was unfortunate that the puppies came from puppy mills but I am still very happy with my dog that I got there. I did try shelters and rescues and private breeders but I did not find the puppy for me. Shelters did not have young malteses, online I encountered way too many people trying to scam me, and breeders were too expensive. Pros: Clean, happy puppies Cons: Be patient- pick your dog carefully, there are always those that are healthier and better than others more

Very Disappointed 6/3/2008

I own a puppy that had been purchased at Posh Puppy. I have him, because the woman who bought this puppy could not take care of him. He is the love of my life; however, I knew from the beginning (he was 4 months old when I got him) that something just didn't seem right. The vet pointed out that he has a hip problem. He is extremely bowlegged and has difficulty standing for long periods. He is also very shy and reserved - much like a dog that had been abused. When I asked the original owner about all of this, she said that the dogs at the store were wonderful, well cared for, and came from exceptional breeders. Now I know that this isn't the case. I became sick to my stomach when I read about their dogs coming from puppy mills, but at the same time, I felt that it answered all of the questions that I had about my little man. After much thought, I called the store (I have never been in one of their stores) and expressed my disappointment about how the public has been mislead about their dogs. Basically, it was confirmed that their dogs came from places that had been ""investigated"", and I was told that Posh Puppy is no longer selling dogs. I am grateful that I have my pup, and he is so adored, but I get upset every time I think of how he came to be. I did not have the opportunity to speak with the owners, and I have left my name and number with them, but if nothing more, the public needs to know that they mislead their customers. They lied about where the dogs came from, and people bought very expensive ""designer"" dogs from them under false pretenses. The Beverly Hills and Tarzana stores are still open, and are supposedly only selling pet supplies. However, I wouldn't even buy a dog toy from these people. Their greed and lies are a disgrace to the pet industry. Cons: Store owners lied for their own benefit. more

Wish I didn't even have to give a star 4/6/2008

Be clear on one thing: if you buy a puppy from this store (or ANY pet store, for that matter) you are supporting an industry of cruelty. The mothers of these puppies spend their entire lives in cages - some never set foot on solid ground - being bred every single time they go into heat. They are given no protection from the cold in the winter and no shelter from the heat in the summer. When they are too old or sick to give birth to anymore puppies, they are drowned or shot. The people at the pet store will tell you that they get their dogs from reputable breeders (USDA approved!) and they will even name the breeder; this means nothing. The USDA only requires that the cages are large enough that the animal can turn around inside. Employees at pet stores will outright lie and say they don't get their dogs from puppy mills. This is 100% untrue. Reputable breeders would NEVER sell to a pet store because they want to know where their dogs are going. Let me repeat - ONLY puppy mill breeders will sell to pet stores; no one else. They will also tell you that they regularly visit the breeding facilities; this is a lie. Most of the breeding facilities are in the midwest where large-scale puppy manufacturing is a lucrative field and very unregulated. Get a dog from a shelter or a rescue. If you are looking for a specific breed, you can go to a breed rescue. I have three purebred dogs, two pugs from a pug rescue group and shih-tzu from the shelter. If you want to learn more about pet stores, go to the Humane Society's website and search puppy mills. If you absolutely have your heart set on a purebred puppy, do your research (beginning at the American Kennel Club's site) and find a reputable breeder. A reputable breeder will insist on meeting you and will welcome you to tour his or her facilities. If nothing else, know that pet stores are a total rip-off. Unless they are selling a show quality dog, breeders never sell never dogs for over $1000 (usually a lot less). more

Posh Puppy lies about where the puppies are from 3/26/2008

This last person who wrote a review must be a relative, there is proof where these puppies come from(they LIE) .You can rescue all kinds of dogs and there are alot of small breed dogs at the shelters that were purchased from pet stores like posh puppy, because the people buy them like the latest handbags or on a whim and then realize they made a mistake. I have spoken to so many people who bought puppies at posh puppy and other petstores and had major problems medically with these dogs. Dumb $3500 for a puppy, Smart-$70 rescued and you saved a life. READ THE BUSINESS SECTION LOS ANGELES TIMES APRIL 13TH AND THE 20TH ALL ABOUT SICK PUPPIES FROM PETSTORES AND PARTICULARLY POSH PUPPY!! Cons: from puppymills animal cruelty more

Posh Puppy 3/11/2008

For those of you who are uncertain about the condition of the dogs being bred and supplied to Posh Puppy, the actual information of the breeders are posted up at the store. The store is relatively small and the puppies are cared for very well. I bought my maltese at Posh Puppy and she did not display any characteristics of a puppy that may have been bred in a puppy mill. She came home healthy and interacted with people wonderfully. And for those who believe that puppy stores that sell exclusively miniature and teacup puppies should also sell rescued dogs, not all people want rescued dogs. Miniature dogs fit better into the lifestyles of certain people (people who live in small homes, the elderly, and those who just wish to have a small and vivacious companion), and those prefer these dogs should not be harassed. I understand that puppy mills are terrible atrocities and I am disgusted by the treated of these precious animals, but any store who cares for their puppies as if they're their own and is willing to post information about their breeders openly should not be harassed to the point where the store closes for a day. And for the person who said their puppy got sick 2 weeks after it was bought, there is a policy on the contract that says the dog should be taken to the vest right after it is bought to be examined for any illnesses or terminal conditions. If the vet says there's anything wrong with the dog, the dog can be exchanged. If a dog gets sick after 2 weeks and the vet said that the puppy was okay after it is bought, perhaps it is your fault that the dog got sick. more

STAY AWAY LIARS AT THIS STORE!! 2/4/2008

They lie about where there puppys come from, do not recommend this store. Go to responsible breeders if you must buy a dog but do the right thing and adopt, petfinder. Do you research on all these petstores that sell puppies, it's not cool, it's not the latest purse. Stay away, do not recommend, do not recommend. more

Puppy Mill Misery 1/27/2008

POSH PUPPY IS NOT A BREEDER. Please educate yourself about puppy mills or stop being in denial. The only way they have unlimited access to these undersized Maltese and Yorkies (their ""stock"") at any given time is to purchase from puppy mills...where they keep their breeding dogs in wire cages their entire lives to be bred over and over. No love, no exercise, no adequate medical care. The puppies are taken away from their mothers too early because it's all about profit and greed. Posh Puppy has already sold quite a few sick dogs and caused their customers a lot of heartache. A friend of mine's dog has a heart murmur and probably won't make it to two years old. They sold another puppy that died soon after it was taken home. They've been repeatedly asked by the Humane Society and other organizations to provide a list of their suppliers and they've refused. What more proof do you need? The owners of Posh Puppy are certainly aware by now of the misery of puppy mills and about all of the sick dogs they sell. Yet they continue to sell them for thousands of dollars because ""it's America and they have a right to."" No...sorry. They don't have a right to profit from horrific animal abuse. Papers mean NOTHING. The AKC and all of the rest of these ""clubs"" sell papers to puppy mills, that's how they make their money. And USDA inspected also means NOTHING. The standards are at the bare minimum for them to ""pass."" Please have a heart and adopt...and help put puppy mills and the pet shops that support them out of business for good. Save a couple of thousand dollars (plus medical expenses for a puppy mill dog) and SAVE A LIFE! ADOPT FROM A SHELTER OR RESCUE. Cons: Sickly puppy mill puppies more

Best Puppies Anywhere 1/4/2008

I looked to adopt but was unable to find a small dog at the time I was looking that also didn't have ""pitbull"" mixed in. I live in a condo so I really believe it is unfair to large dogs and that is why I finally went to Posh Puppy. First off they are not a puppy mill, but the actual breeders. I wish people would research prior to just lashing out. I did a lot of research prior to picking my puppy. This is not a ""mall"" type of store selling pets. They specialize in a few smaller breeds ONLY. Many people such as myself cannot have just any dog due to allergies, and lucky for me I was able to obtain a healthy, happy, and loving puppy. Pros: If you are looking for a smaller dog this is the place to do more

ask yourself ""where are the mothers and fathers of these cute puppies? 12/30/2007

How about they are living in wire cages breeding over and over and over again with no life, they are used as money machines. I would definitely say that is animal cruelty and when you buy a puppy in a pet store you are adding to their misery! Please don't buy your dog from a pet store, adopt or rescue. more
