When we were looking to purchase a townhome earlier this year, we shopped almost all of the portrait homes locations. They sell brand new townhomes (they build to suit) in several locations. This review is for the Goose Creek location which is Persimmon Hill. The main drawback (or maybe convenience...depends how you look at it) is that this location is directly behind Walmart. The traffic is heavy but very convenient to North Charleston businesses if you work on that part of town. The model we would have bought is their most popular and it had about a 3 month wait on them building any more of that model. They had plenty of the smallest unit or models we didn' t like. We probably would have bought there had the model we wanted been available. If you shop portrait homes, be aware that all of their locations vary GREATLY in price. Summervile is cheaper than Goose Creek, Goose Creek cheaper than Charleston, etc. The same Portrait Home at one location might be literally THOUSANDS of dollars more. I know you are paying for the real estate in that particular town but they are greatly different. Also, they do have homeowner assn. fees at all of the locations but they don't tell you that right away. Plan on another $150 or so added to your payment for that. That includes a community pool, etc. I would not rule them out again, but they are more like an apartment complex than the other townhomes. We choose another builder with fewer homes and more yard! You don't get any "yard" with portrait homes and that is a big drawback if you have children.
