I decided to join QA program at Portnov School after a long break from my last technical IT position. In my mind the most valuable aspect of their program was a guaranteed internship placement, which no other school offered. I took their standard QA Flex program and started going to internship interviews right at the completion of the courses. After only few attempts, I was able to score not just an internship but a full time QA Engineer position with a pretty decent salary! \r \r The school offers variety of courses and has a very helpful staff, which will go out of their way to help you. For best results, however, students must invest a lot of their own time to study the material. That would greatly help them down the road. When I started my program at Portnov, I decided to save my review for this special day, the day I signed my first contract.\r I started in the Summer. In October I got a 12-week internship. Today I started working for a company that produces risk management software.for Global 5000 enterprises. \r \r This school gives you everything to start out as a software tester even if you don't have any IT background. I am, for instance, a former media professional. \r \r The program is very short, so prepare to study a lot! Don't relay on in-class activities. Learn on your own, search, explore - do your homework. You'll be given all the necessary resources for that.\r \r You'll love this school and its staff: your instructors - Olga C., Olga K. and Mikhail; Galina, who will be helping you with your internship resume; Sofia, who - (be sure!) - will place you for an internship. I started Portnov School in September 2012. The classes were very intense to cover lot of information in short time. I wanted to change my career and to start to work in IT field. I won a green card and at first I tried to find a job as an controls engineer ( I was an controls engineer in Russia) but it was difficult, there are not so many vacancies in this field and licenses are required. So I decided to turn my career in other direction. As I already was familiar with some programming basics I decided to turn my career into IT field. \r A friend of mine already graduated from Portnov Computer School at that time so I had an example of successful employment.
