The Portland Symphonic Girlchoir was the most important experience in my daughter's education.
Unlike most of the vocal programs available locally, the PSGC teaches musician ship, classical voice, manners, poise, and ettique in a way that prepares young women musically and professionally to face the world international.
The program starts with an educational class in the 1st-3rd grades. From 3rd grade on, it is an audition process that looks not only at the girl's singing ability but also at their potential to be strong yet gentile women.
Musically, this is no disney/mickey mouse club choir..the girls tackle complicated classical pieces in multiple languages from Italian to Hebrew to French. Younger auditioned girls travel regionally, with middle schoolers graduating to national performances, and high schools traveling internationally.
PSGC is not cheap, but there are scholarships available...and what price can you put on giving your daughter an edge?
