Portland Outdoor Store

I used to go here quite a bit (before all the chain stores hit the area), because it was the only place to find certain things, but I find that I still enjoy going here even now. It has a less corporate feel and I like that it is a local business. They have a really nice selection too - many quality items for camping, hiking, etc. The staff is very helpful also - I think they take their job maybe more seriously than at some larger retail places so they seem to really know their stuff inside and out (literally!) If you like the outdoors and need some gear, you should check this place out! more

I've ventured into the Outdoor Store several times over the years and have always had a great experience. They have a nice selection of items you would need for all of your outdoor excursions, such as hiking, camping, skiing etc. Yes, Portland does have some "major" retailers that have an even bigger selection and more locations, but I always feel better about giving my dollars to the smaller, local guys than the REI's of the world. If you like supporting your local businesses, I would suggest checking out the Portland Outdoor Store next time you are in need of some gear. more

Great western store! 3 stories full of western stuff, outdoor stuff, and horsey stuff!! Everything including great western gifts, jeans, boots, saddles, tack, magazines, tents and outdoor equipement... you name it. The parking on the street is a little cramped when you driving a full size truck, but that's typical of downtown Portland, not so much the store's fault. They also great consignment deals for selling tack and horse stuff... they are the only store I've ever heard of to NOT charge you outrageous consignment fee's....In fact they don't charge you at all!! And they have always been very helpful in finding an item for me or in helping me to sell my saddle. Very top notch business. Just wish there was a little better parking... more

They have just about anything relating to sports and outdoors one could possibly want. Located downtown, they've done a good job of carving out a niche in an outdoor store mecca like Portland. I like the downtown location; it fits well with their merchandise. They represent Portland well- they take care of the urban side and the outdoors and rugged side equally. more
