I was expecting great things after reading all of the positive reviews. My wife and I both ordered the ribeye steaks and we were very disappointed. For one thing, at a restauran...

Pleasant surprise for the price! 5/6/2004

We stopped in for an impromptu dinner on a weeknight because I had a craving for steak. I had driven by this restaurant many times and always wondered about it but never got around to trying it until now. The prix fixe dinner is really the best inexpensive dinner in town. The steak was juicy, the portions plentiful, and the service was friendly. Can't beat it for the price (in fact, I'm still amazed by it!). I'll definitely be back. Pros: GREAT value, good steak, friendly service more

Best prix fixe value in town - $34.50 12/30/2003

My girlfriends threw me a surprise birthday party 2 weeks ago. There were 12 of us. We all had a great time there. Love their Porterhouse streak, their house sauce is great. Dessert is awesome. We also had a really cool and attentive waiter. The prix fixe menu also include two drinks! What a deal! The only down side is hard to find street parking in Beverly Hills, although valet is only $3.50. Pros: Best Prix Fixe menu, Accomodate large grou, Nice classy decor Cons: hard to find Parking more

Delicious! 9/10/2003

The starter platter was amazing...porterhouse steak was juicy...onion soup was to die for! Only bad part was the service...the waitress would forget every time we asked for something! Pros: Great food, Good deal! Cons: Poor service more

our new favorite restaurant 6/24/2003

let me put it this way - the lady at the table next to us called her waitress and asked incredulously, ""are you sure this was only $64?"" where in l.a. can you get an appetizer, salad (not just the romaine or iceburg), gorgeous & delicious meat with two sides (the french fries are great!), two drinks (full bar! alcoholic or soft drink), a yummy dessert, plus a huge beehive of complimentary cotton candy (a successful nostalgic touch) for $29.95? and it's all in an expensive-looking dining establishment? the best date place - first class experience at a ridiculously low price. no wonder the staff is so friendly - i'm pretty sure the diners overtip to compensate. (no, i do not work for this restaurant or know anybody that does! we genuinely love this place.) Pros: best value, great food!, very impressive Cons: mediocre bathroom, (really, nothing!) more

Worst dining experience ever 6/15/2003

AMATEUR wait staff - didn't know menu/didn't care, avoided eye contact so wouldn't have to refill water - had to ask for eating utensils TWICE!! - hard to get waitress to stick around for the whole order - then was grossly overcharged! Sat 5 at table for 4 - sore elbows. Cons: Amateur staff, all steaks come rare, poor table arrangemt more

Great Steak and Dining 2/20/2003

Went here for Valentines Day and everything went great. We were seated as soon as we came in and the food was DELICIOUS. For $29.95 u get a 4 course meal with 2 drinks included! even alcoholic beverages! Steak was perfect. Me and my fiance can't wait to go back. Very nice setting. Pros: Best Steak, Drinks Included, Nice setting Cons: Valet a little pricey more

Great Steak at a Great Price 2/15/2003

The Porterhouse Bistro serves the most incredible steak I have ever had and the fixed price menu is one of the best deals in LA. For only $30, you get two drinks, appetizer, steak, one side, and dessert. My wife and I opted to share the 30oz Porterhouse and it did not disappoint. The house steak sauce complements the meat perfectly and as for the sides--the french fries and the sauteed mushrooms are a must. We ended our meal with the Chocolate Lava Cake, which oozes warm chocolate as you cut into it. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience and rivals such fine steakhouses as the Palm and Arnie Morton's. Pros: The Porterhouse, Great Value Cons: Somewhat Noisy more

Wonderful! 1/13/2003

I love Porterhouse Bistro! The wait staff is very professional and knowledgeable. We were served immediately after we were seated-our server took our drink order answered questions about the menu and recommended a bottle of wine. Porterhouse Bistro is a nice romantic restaurant. I hgighly recommend it for intimate dinners as well as dinners with friends and family! The steaks are great too! Pros: excellent service, great steaks more

Adkins would be proud! 1/7/2003

Great restaurant if you are in the mood for good atmosphere an a serious meal, specifically STEAK. I felt like John Candy in Uncle Buck with the size of the steak I was served. The flavor was really good and juicy. The $29.95 deal is the way to go, especially if you're on a date. We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to going back soon. Oh, and the service was really good also. Nice server, knowledgable and with no attitude. Refreshing for LA. Pros: Price, Quality of the food, Service Cons: Website more

you can be late samw wait 7/21/2002

Finally seated at 7:30 for a 7 reservation, however they do not rush you at all once seated, the $9 salad is not even good fertilizer, the $7 french fries are superb and a must. Almost a meal in itself. Steak is superb. Service is ok the girls are very busy and dont do water service enough. When you are seated say it is your birthday which qualifies you for the COTTON CANDY desert which is ,free, and fun. The atmosphere elegant casual but noisy. steak could feed two if you are not steak freaks. Ask for Rhonda as a waiteress, she will not become a Siamese twin to you table, but who needs the type that ask how you like the Broccili seven times. By the way, the water is great and compliments the meal so dont load up on cokes or ice tea. The bread is also outstanding. Pros: steak, cotton candy, french fries Cons: slow, salad, nosy if you like quie more

Cotton-candy...awesome. 6/17/2002

This newly opened restaurant is pretty good. There are a handful of options on the menu...with one main course...Porterhouse steak of course! The night we went, they actually had a special - some sort of fish - and it looked quite good. The sides are awesome but the best part is desert. Complements of the house is a huge pile of cotton candy (flavors vary), but this shouldn't keep you from trying the brownie they have. It's truly amazing. Good eats! more

Best of the Best 6/12/2002

Open, Light and Airy place. Nice decor, confortable chairs. I loved the STEAK...!!!!!! I love it RARE, and it came that way. Finally a place that cooks it to my liking. I will be back. If you're looking for inexpensive this is not your place, but if you want a great steak you will not find better. Thanks, Patti Pros: grade of beef-great, open, light, roomy more

Just one steak but it was a great choice 5/15/2002

The rib-eye steak has long been my favorite cut of meat for it's great flavor and texture but if everyone served steak the way Porterhouse Bistro does I would quickly change my mind. Cooking quality beef is an art form as many a poor tasting steak that started with a ""prime grade"" label will attest. PB has mastered this art with their extreme focus on a single cut. Cooking on a grill at over 800 degrees and serving it up on a very hot metal plate make a big difference to what ends up in your mouth. The olive oil, garlic and herb drizzle ensures even those who order ""well done"" won't be eating beef jerkey. I will be back to the Porterhouse Bistro the next time I am in the mood for a great piece of meat. Pros: Amazing steaks, Large steaks, Hot steaks Cons: Inexperienced service more
