The mac & cheese is amazing! It's just as good as their pulled pork.

I just recently discovered this gem of a BBQ shop and can't get enough. You can tell by the deep, flavorful juiciness that the meat is smoked for hours. Definitely try the brisket tacos and the cornbread. Food arrives on time, hot, and the portions are very generous. If you're in the mood for BBQ, order from the Pork Shoppe. more

Not the best BBQ in chicago 9/30/2010

Chicago is undergoing a barbecue boom and I am thrilled to try and discover new great BBQ spots. Unfortunately, Pork Shoppe is not one of them. They did some things I liked, but more that I did not. The concept is cool but lacking in execution. My favorite was the beef brisket taco, served with onion, lettuce and cilantro. The meat was great and the flavors all came together. I also enjoyed the mac 'n cheese side dish, served in a small tin, baked with bread crumbs and lots of the cheese. The disappointments were the pulled chicken and pulled pork sandwich, but more generally the sauce selection and value. The four choices of meat (chicken, pork, brisket and steak) are served ""deli style,"" meaning plain in a basket. Add $1 for a sandwich, and do your own saucing from the three available. This puts a lot of pressure on the sauces, which did not carry the day. I have my favorite BBQ sauces at home, and anyone one of them would have been preferred. I can eat almost anything with great BBQ, therefore I can see the appeal of deli style meats. But it does beg the question, what are you really getting for ~$6 of 1/4 of pulled pork? It's still early and maybe I need to try the ribs. But it's hard to recommend and return to a BBQ spot where I don't love the sauces or the flavoring of the meat. The one side was good, and the $2 brisket taco was very good, everything else needs improvement. my blog: jjrappeats.blogspot dot com more

Great find! 8/24/2010

we walked over to go to kumas but the waiting was 2 hrs, my husband was very hungry and could no wait any minute.... so THANKS GOD!! he saw the pork on the window and decided to enter.... i had the corn on the cob, yes nothing mayor, but it was pretty good, not overcooked or dry, i put the smoky sauce on top... hmmmm good!! My husband had the BBQ sandwich, the owner suggested to have it naked, so he could add the sauces himself, well, it was a good decision, and my husband loved it! Forget about kumas, this place will be found soon, so start eating here. more

My roommates order from here pretty frequently so I thought it was my turn to give it a shot. A complaint they always have with Pork Shoppe is that they more often than not forget parts of their order. I was lucky enough to not have this happen to me, but the woman who delivered my food was one of the rudest delivery people I have ever met. I tipped on my credit card and she got extremely shitty with me when I didn't give her a cash tip. She proceeded to yell at me as she stormed off. The only reason she didn't get the food thrown in her face was because they have ridiculously high minimum for delivery and a $3 delivery fee. While Pork Shoppe has some of the best cornbread I've ever had, I honestly don't think I'll ever get delivery from them again. more

Really good stuff, love their sauces and everything comes hot. Not as good as Smoque, but pretty comparable. A little light on the portions for the steak sandwich, but the mac & cheese is awesome, so is the coleslaw. Everything that is supposed to be spicy has a good bite to it. The potato salad is awesome. Definitely will be ordering more in the future. more

I cant believe how good this place. I had a craving for rib tips and they delivered! The ribs are just amazing and the smoke flavor is incredible. The coleslaw is awesome and the corn bread. They forgot the Mac and cheese, but I can forgive them this time! :) I will be back. more

You can't beat the service. Reasonable delivery time, food is always hot, and the staff is super nice. Their beef brisket sandwiches are delicious. When ordering, keep in mind all the BBQ sauces come on the side. Fear not soggy delivery fries...I don't know how they do it, but their fries are always crispy when I receive them. Their sheet cake is chocolate and super rich. It has a layer of chocolate frosting that's very sweet and topped with pecans. The creamed corn is a little different than I'm used to. This is not the typical slightly pureed cream corn. It's more like steamed corn tossed in a cream sauce. Still tasty, just unexpected. I tried their beef brisket tacos but wasn't a huge fan. They're wrapped in two corn tortillas and I found them really dry/bland. It's possible that I didn't put enough BBQ sauce in them, but I really think they need more than brisket and lettuce...like a tomato/onion mix or sour cream for dipping. more
