Although this center puts up a good front, unpleasant stuff happens behind the scenes.
- children are ridiculed/threatened by teachers (a few have been fired for violence)
- teachers have thrown rocks at children on the playground
- children are often left unattended throughout nap time
- dirty diapers are not always changed promptly
- the supply of paper hygiene products/soap/gloves in inadequate
- teachers have watched pornography on the premises while children were napping
- children come home dirty at the end of the day
- the center is not sanitary, and children do not wash their hands frequently
- the center is highly overpriced, considering the quality of the care provided
- the center has been cited numerous times by the state licensing agency
- children have been left outside alone and unattended, as well as "left behind" in an unattended part of the building
If you choose to send your children to Shining Star, do so with caution. Perhaps even drop in for a visit during naptime (just be sure to park a couple blocks away and come in through the church entrance -- the teachers scatter back to their classrooms when a car shows up)
