Some of the best Italian food outside the north end!!!!!! 3/19/2012

This restaurant was very deceiving as it looks very small and not elegant from the outside, it was beautiful. Very impressive clean and the food was excellent! I am Italian and most restaurants are americanized for what ever reason. This place was very good the food was hot came prompt and tasty! The pricing was average and the service was excellent considering the waitress was not only the bus boy as well as the host! I give it 5 stars and I will return! You shoul give it a chance too! more

the worst service and the most ignorant and arrogant owner 12/17/2010

the worst service ever and the owner, Luigi, is the most arrogant jerk EVER. gave our dinners to a relative of his (at the next table) who came in 30 mins after we did...1.5 hrs later, all he could say we sorry and Merry Christmas - and said the meal was on him - but then sent the waitress over to make sure we paid for our drinks and apps. I will never go back there, and I swear to everything that is holy that I will write a poor review for this place every week in every online eating publication forever. merry christmas luigi - your place sucks! more

one of the best North of Boston! 7/27/2010

I was really shocked to read the bad reviews. I have been coming to this restaurant for about 15 years and never had a bad experience. It has changed from being a formal, 5 star restaurant to a more informal trattoria, but I like the new atmosphere better. The food is FABULOUS - and I love good food. Some times I don't order from the menu, I just ask the chef to cook up something he likes with what is in the kitchen, and every time it's been a hit.The octopus and calamri are my favorite, and we love the owner and the family, as they always come over to chat and laugh, just like the owners in Italy have done on my travels. I don't know what happened with that bad service, maybe they had family probelms or changes going on, but we are regulals and love it! Pros: Food and service are excellent more

This Restaurant is Excellent 4/9/2009

My husband and I have gone to dine at this restaurant many times. I never write reviews but I noticed these two reviews and I can't believe it. These people must not know what good food is. This place prepares everything from the heart. The owner is a very pleasant man which he walks around making sure everything is perfect for everyone. I really don't understand these write ups. The last time I was their I had a pasta dish with Taylor Bay Scollops in the shell it was to die for. My husband got the braciola with potato gnocci and he loved it and said the sauce was excellent. He is a very fussy italian man when it comes to eating. This is a restaurant you have to try or your missing the boat. Pros: Excellent Food and Service more

We were asked to leave because we ordered salads! 1/10/2009

This evening at 7:30pm me and five of my girlfriends met at Ponte Vecchio for a nice ""girl's night out"" dinner. We all ordered a round of drinks and then the waitress took our orders. We all ordered a salad for $8.95 and some of us added chicken to it and some added an appetizer at $15 a piece. (The waitress seemed very put out by the fact that we were not ordering entrees. Has she never been out with her girlfriends? Women don't eat big meals in front of each other.) We also ordered another round of drinks.\r The next thing we knew a young man approached our table and said they we weren't ""allowed"" to serve just salads in this part of the restaurant and that we had to order entrees. We all stared at him like he was crazy - no where on the menu did it say anything about ceratin areas of the restaurant requiring entree orders. We said ""charge us for entrees then"" He said he'd be back. He came back and said that the owner said we could have just salads but he was going to charge us an extra $5 a head for doing so. At this point, we were so angry, as there were at least four empty tables in the restaurant, that we said give us the bill for the dirnks we have had (the first round) and we are leaving. We paid $70 for those drinks and left. None of us could believe we had been treated this way. We were willing to give them our money and they would rather see a table go empty than to serve salads to 6 women. In this economy, I would think the $250-300 we would have spent on drinks, salads and desserts would have been better than the $70 they got. We drove 3 miles down Route 1 and had a wonderful dinner of salads, drinks and dessert at Off the Vine in Rowley - check it out!\r Pros: The food is very good. Cons: The service and ""rules"" are ridiculous more

Stay away :: This plase used to be AWESOME :: Point of Blechio 9/7/2008

""Don't waste your money.\r Service non existent (even thought there were tons of empty tables).\r Food not as described My wife's meal was not as advertised on the menu.\r The $28 Angus steak was pure fat and gristle.\r We were just going to pay and leave. We did not complain. We did not confront them. They asked why we did not eat our meals.\r As we were leaving the waitress asked what was wrong with my steak, I told her,\r she said to her fellow waitress, ""another one"", implying that this has happened before.\r Back at our table waiting for the bill, we were surrounded by the owner, his nephew or son, and the waitress, basically yelling at us that we were wrong.\r \r No discount on the bill. \r \r As we were leaving the son or nephew exited the restaurant after us shouting Italian expletives, and unique finger and arm gestures. I thought he was coming out to apologize. After the young mouthpiece was through, papa mouthpiece came out to further insult out intelligence with additional Italian colloquialisms.\r \r The fact that they did this in front of what little customers they had, will surely further cull their herd of patronage.\r \r All in all it was worth the $100 to now have the ultimate WTF restaurant story."" Pros: Great glass of wine (it was $10 though) Cons: Rude waitress - Owner and his Son verbally assaulted us for not eating the bad food more

PLEASE READ!!! SO RUDE!!! 2/19/2008

So me and 7 other of my foodie friends went to this establishment last night and it was one of the worst dining experiences of my life! first off i am in the business and in fact everyone at the table is in the business...and i never go online or anywhere to write reviews both good or bad but this is an exception! i will try to explain as quickly as possible...our server was ok, the food that came out correct was ok but drinks came out wrong, 4 out of the 8 meals were wrong, and there was twine left on a roast pork dish that one of our guests got...she pulled it out of her mouth! so you may say that we were just haveing bad luck in the restaurant that evening and being in the business we thought the same but we said that the managment should be notified. so we asked for the manager, she approached the table as if WE did something wrong. her first words were ""so let me tell you my side of the story!"" she talked down to us implied that we didn't know a thing about italian food, and even implied that one of our guest was drunk! and i assure you she wasn't! she walked away from us numerous times when we were explaining our experience and she even had the audacity to say that the roast pork was always served with the twine on it...in that case we were screwed because our piece was only and inch long and wasn't wrapped on the pork it was in it! i can't even express how offensive and rude this woman was! and come to find out she wasn't even the manager she was the bartender pretending to be the manager beacuse there was no manager on duty! after reading these other reviews you can see that itsn ot the first time the staff has been rude to their diners! none of us have ever, EVER experienced an evening like we did last night, we spent $355 and had the worst night out ever! they were so rude that i am boycotting this establishment...don't go there its aweful! Pros: food again was ok...fresh pasta was good Cons: food and drinks came out wrong! the ""manager"" was the rudest person i ever met in my life!!! more
