My sister bought her wedding dress and we bought our bridesmaid dresses from Poffie Girls for her wedding in May 2008. The sales associates were great the first time we came in - pulled gorgeous dresses and helped my sister try them on and choose a gown. Then, we picked out bridesmaid dresses. I'm a size 10-12, but they insisted I buy a 14, and my size 6 sister order a 12. Both dresses fit horribly and we had to spend a ton of money on alterations, because there was not enough time to reorder in the correct sizes. The other bridesmaid had her dress hemmed at the store, and they hemmed it unevenly. My sister had to go back for alterations 4 TIMES. They took it in on the sides and bust too much, and accused her of gaining weight and that she needed to lose weight (she weighs 102 pounds!). When she told the owner, the alterations woman denied it. She was in tears because the alterations woman was so rude and physically rough with her while altering. She ended up having her alteration fees fully refunded, but the stress this created was completely unnecessary. Pros: beautiful dresses Cons: horrible customer service, alteration dept more

I got married in January 08. I purchased my gown, shoes, veil, invitations, and mother's gown. Worst mistake ever! The first time that I went there the staff was awesome. Then I went back for a fitting. The staff was horrible. They helped me get into the dress then after my fitting they sent me downstairs and no one was around to help me get out of my dress, that a woman and her daugther that was trying on a dress helped me out of my dress. When I went back to pick up my dress for the my wedding. It was not even steamed. I had to wait for over an hour to get it. It was such a terrible experience. It just made me so mad to think of all the money that I spent there and they were just RUDE! Please consider when going there that they will be nice at first but when they have your money it will not be a great expereince more

I had a great experience at Poffie Girls. I made an appointment for a Saturday and had the undivided attention of SARA (who was absolutely wonderful) for over an hour. When I went to the store, I had no idea what I was really looking for. I know they must have pulled at least 25 gowns for me to try on. Sara listened to what I liked and didn't like. I had the unfortunate experience of purchasing my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses from Poffie Girls. My first experience at the store was so enjoyable. The staff was so helpful and all the women would come in and brag about how "beautiful" I looked in my gown. A lot of my friends had warned me that they had terrible experiences with Poffie girls...I thought they were crazy! Boy, was I wrong. After they received my check, the staff, including the owner, were so rude and downright mean to me, my mother, and bridesmaids. They left my junoir bridesmaid in tears after her dress fitting---they snapped at her told her to stand still! Trust me, you do not want to deal with this bridal store. When I came in for my dress fitting, they acted as if they were annoyed with my presence and I waited in they front lobby while the sales lady talked to her husband on her cell phone for 15-20 minutes before even acknowledging me. My first trip to Poffie girls was nice...the staff helpful and I found a great dress for the value. Well, that was my first and last pleasurable experience with Poffie girls. As soon as they received my money, the staff, including the owner, was snobby, rude and downright mean. They treated my bridesmaids like garbage, even had my jr. bridesmaid in tears when they snapped at her for not standing still enough at the fitting. They acted like they didn't even remember me when I came in for my dress fittings. They wouldn't acknowledge me or even get off their non-business cell phone conversations when I needed assistance. I had been warned my other brides about Poffie Girls 180's...but I went anyway. Learn from me...you do not want to deal with this bridal store. The staff will treat you like gold the fist meeting and then be nasty to you every other time after that. They actually rolled their eyes when I told them I wasn't interested in purchasing from their shoe collection. Poffie Girls was wonderful from the first time I called to make an appt. I had a list of dresses I wanted them to look up to see if they had any of them on stock, they were so helpful. They informed me these dresses had not been released yet. When I came in for my appt. I was greeted and asked what type of dress I was looking for. My salesperson pulled a few and let my maid of honor, my mom and I pull dresses to try on. I called the next week to set an appt. to try one of the dresses back on- she remembered my and the dress I fell in love with. That is great customer service!!!!! I am one of a handful of my friends & family who have purchased a dress from Poffie Girls. After my sister's experience with them I swore I would not go back. Unfortunately, for their area they are the only affordable true bridal shops around - and have a pretty excellent and varied selection. However, as much as you may enjoy your experience of trying on dresses and feel that your every need is met in your initial visit, KNOW that once you sign that receipt and pay for that dress your experience will change. I was lucky enough to have a sincerely sweet girl work with me but when it came to ordering my bridesmaids dresses, my shoes and alterations I felt as though I was somehow inconveniencing THEM if I had a question or concern. Not to mention when my shoes came back looking bright white - not ivory like the swatch they were dyed to match - and unevenly colored from the dye I was blown off with "sometimes that can happen". I called 30 minutes before I showed up and they were still willing to work with me! I went to 5 different dress shops that day! They were the most willing to work with me! They listened to what I wanted and pulled dresses for me! They pulled what I was looking for and didn't try to push anything on my at all! They took into consideration my budget too! Dresses that were too big they were able pin or hold so I would have a good idea of what it would looke like or dresses that where to small they also pinned up enough so that I could see what it would look like on. I was able to try the dress I really liked one more than once. They accomidated my every need! Poffie Girls experience was absolutely great. My mom and I were treated as if we were Queens. From the time we walked into the door until the time we left, I felt like I had my consultants undivided attention. She listened to my wants and desires for my gown and she pulled exactly what I wanted. I could not have been happier. She then showed me the many selections of bridesmaid dresses and she even helped my mom find her dress for the wedding. I was amazed at what I felt as a one store shop. I got my tuxedo's, mother's gowns and my gown and veil plus my groom rented us the bentley for our wedding day. I loved my experience at Poffie Girls and I would recommend other brides to call and make an appointment. You too will share in my excitement. Pros: Wonderful experience more

My friend and I just had a very unpleasant experience at Poffie Girls. We drove from out of town (almost 2 hours) because we had heard that they had a ton of dresses. When we got there the only dresses they have out are the ones on clearance. They ask what you like and then they just bring a few dresses out to try on from a back room - you cant browse through all the dresses! Our saleslady was very rude, and made quite a few hurtful comments about our bodies. We both wear about a 12 or 14 dress. She acted like we were huge cows. She told my friend (whos wedding is in July) that she would not have time to order a dress because it takes 6 MONTHS! She then proceeded to tell her that she should lose 40 pounds(which would make her only 115!), then come back in, because she would have to buy a sale dress in stock, and they dont carry any ""that large"". She then said ""sorry we dont have a dress for you"", after we had only tried on 2 dresses, and then basically, ""bye, have a nice day!!"" We had asked to look at bridesmaids dresses also, but she just walked off and went to someone else, so we left, and went to Bedazzled Bridal down the road. Would not reccomend Poffie Girls to anyone! My experience at Poffie Girls was unpleasant, to say the least. Unlike every other gown boutique I have been to, the staff at Poffie Girls refused to let me pick dresses out to try on. The saleswoman simply asked what I was looking for, went into a back room, and returned with several dresses that were the opposite of what I described. When I asked to go to the back room to look at dresses for myself, she was very resistant and rude. When I did manage to try on a few decent dresses, she refused to clip them (like other stores do) so that I could see what they would look like fitted to my shape. It's certainly very hard to tell if a dress looks good on you when you are holding it up around you like a tent. I certainly do not recommend this store to anyone. I purchased my bridal gown and bridesmaids gowns from poffie girls. The staff helped out tremendously with my major purchases. They have a great selection of designer gowns, mother of the bride attire, flower girl, and tuxedo rentals. The alterations staff was great. I recommend them to everyone! more

Poffie Girls is a Gaston County traditon. I purchased my wedding dress from them, as did my daughter. Both of us have very fond memories of finding just the perfect dress and being made to feel like a princess by the staff. Customer service could be defined by the wonderful people here. IF YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE MONEY, I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND YOU GO TO POFFIE GIRLS. SOME OF THE STAFF CAN BE RUDE AND UNHELPFUL IF THEY DON'T FEEL LIKE YOU ARE WORTH THEIR TIME OR THEIR COMMISSION. IF YOU GO TO THEIR STORE,REMEMBER TO DRESS THE PART IF YOU WANT TO GET SERVICED. more

I purchased my wedding dress and all of my prom dresses at Poffie Girls of Gastonia and was extremely pleased with all of my purchases. The ladies there were so helpful to me and I appreciate all that they did to make things go smoothly. more

I thought that Poffie Girls was very good. Both of my brothers used them when they got married for their tuxedo rentals. They have a wide range of styles, colors, and sizes to fit whatever it is your looking for. The prices are pretty good too. They worked with us during the fitting and had excellent sales staff to help us and make sure that the fit was perfect. They worked with us on the price to make sure that it was good and usually give you a good deal when your renting as many as we did. more
