Funky Gifts 5/18/2006

Pluto has cornered the market on cutting edge, funky, retro gifts. Great for cards for all occasions that trump Hallmar, midcentury styled housewares (ashtrays, martini glasses, etc), candles with unusual scents, and cigarette or business card cases. Prices range from reasonable to the ridiculously expensive. The small selection of clothing is cool but you can usually find it cheaper elsewhere; same with much of the jewelry. However, for stress free gift shopping, Pluto is terrific. more

Good Stuff but not so Friendly 9/17/2005

Pluto has all kinds of good gift items from housewares, to baby onsises, to handbags to candles. They have many items you will not find anywhere else. Pluto's prices range from fair to expensive to way overpriced. On the negative side, Pluto (the one in Jamaica Plain anyway; there's another one in Somerville) is packed with attitude, the store hours can be weird and while they sell all kinds of cool baby stuff, you're better off shopping there without the bambino who could easily break something or annoy the staff. more

Very cool selection of housewares 8/17/2005

This place has the coolest lamps. The shades are like black and white photographs. Seen them around? That's the kind of wonderful store this is -- full of fascinating things. A really classy, funky, vibe, the best of Jamaica Plain. Browse here and you'll be surprised what you'll find. And only steps from Jamaica Pond -- cool! This is one of the best stores in the neighborhood. Very nice and funky staff. Good people, cool stuff, fun neighborhood. Perfect combo. more

Fabulous and funky 8/11/2005

If it needs to be funky, retro, eclectic and unique then you will find it in here. From home furnishings to jewelry to clothing they have it all and then some. It started as one store front and then expanded into the space next door as people discovered this fabulous little shop. more

Funky, funky, funky! 7/21/2005

This is one of my favorite stores in JP, and well worth a visit. It has everything you could dream of for gifts; from postcards and stationary, to clothes, to doodads, to just plain fun stuff! The windows are decorated nicely with those great paper star lamps, and are always fun to look at. I just love this store and their eclectic mix of fun things! more
