I Was Harrassed And Bullied By The Owner ! Jeff Herndon ! 6/16/2011

I have been having an ongoing battle with Custom View Windows and Doors also known as PLUM Windows and Doors.\r When it came to installing the windows it has been a fiasco. One of the 4 windows I purchased, the largest window had several flaws that were found during istallation. A new window was ordered and installed a month later, it has worse flaws than the first window. After 30 days I filed a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General and the Registrar of Contractors requesting either a replacment window free of flaws or $1000 back for the window and three days I took of work for installation dates of these defective windeows. That finally got their attention. Jeff Herndon the General Manager or President of the company called me on the phone and started arguing with me regarding the installation, the condition of the window, etc. NO customer service skills what so ever. Told me there was a federal law that if the flaws in the window cold not be seen from 12 ft. away that the state would not do anything to help me. That there was a problem with the manufacture and they couldnt get the window. I said find another manufacturer, you have had my money since March. He said he didn't have to do that. Finally I asked ifhe had seen the defective window, so he came to my house to see it. He was over 30 minutes late, left me waiting and in a time crunch to pick up my duaghter from school. He parked in my drive way behind my vehicle and continued to speak to me like I am an idiot woman. How glass is made, etc. Nothing that had to do with perfomring the work promised and paid for. Intimidation tactics. I tokd me I had to leave to get my daughter he said ""NO, she can wait."" I was scared and shocked. I said ""Would you leave your kid sitting at school waiting for you?"" He answered ""YES"" So wierd!!!\r Well I couldn't leave because he was parked behind me and I was home alone.\r He asked if I would drop the complaints if he provided a new window within a week. I said I wanted to wait and see what the AG would do. This made him very upset, told me again they would not help me or give me any money back and that in my contract it states if there is a problem with the manufacturer that it is my problem not his. Would not move his car or leave my driveway until I agreed to accept the window. I did not want to call the police, too crazy for just wanting a window. So I agreed because my daughter was waitng for me and it had started raining. \r The Registrar of Contractors came to inspect the window 9/9/08 and Mr. Herndon showed up for the inspection as well. The ROC instructed him that it was his responsibility to replace the window, and to find a manufacturer that could do the job, it was not my problem, it's his company's job and responsibility to complete the work promised. The ROC will submit a state work order to replace the window and the complaint will be on their contractors license for 2 years unless we agree to other terms by 5 pm. I figured I had won, a work order for the new window through the state and a permanent complaint for 2 years. So I had no intention of agreeing to other terms. Guess who called me 4 times before 5 pm? Continued to harrass me and attempt to coerce me into dropping the complaint.\r This has been going on for 9 months. If the company had just tried to keep me informed, sent a letter telling me about problems with manufacturer and that they were sorry, they knew I had paid, they were working on it, etc. Anything to make it seem like they didn't just run off with my money and this could have been avoided. . I would not recommend this company.\r \r Shannon\r Tucson, Arizona\r U.S.A.\r \r more

Peace of Mind, lower utility costs, less dust !!! 3/30/2011

This is subimitted for Donna Baker Tucson, Az\r I had Plum install two new front windows in my home last spring /early summer. I waited to write this letter of recommendation as i wanted to make sure the promises were true. Since the installation, I have noticed a major drop in my utility bills as the air conditioner and the furnace have not had to run as long as they used to. MY original windows were single pane in aluminum frames that leaked cold air constantly in the winter and allowed dust in year-round. The seal provided by the windows as demonstrated by the salesman was one of the major reasons i selected these windows. The second reason was the safety factor. My home had been broken into twice and the original windows would do nothing to prevent another break-in. the secure latches and dual panes are excellent deterrents to anyone who is looking for an easy way in. My orginial concern of how the white framing would look on my house was unfounded as they add a touch of class. I am glad I responed to the door flyer hung on my front door . more

Outstanding Performance and Work 1/25/2011

This is submitted for Mr and Mrs Petrie Green Valley\r \r I wanted to write to let you know how pleased we have been with our plum experience. It started the day we walked into your showroom. All of your staff was very welcoming and friendly to us. All of our questions were answered and even information we had not thought to ask. When we left that day it was after ordering replacement windows for our home. The next day your man arrived bright and early to take measurements and survey the the situation, another very professional member of your staff. Three weeks later as promised we were called to schedule installation. The crew arrived on schedule and were also very professional, friendly, and efficient. During my career as an industrial engineer, I worked frequently with contractors and construction people. These two guys are exceptional. The job went along nicely until the rains came, Then they really showed us what dedicated workers they are. After making sure everything was secure and leak proof, they came into our Arizona room dripping wet. I mean, they were saturated! My wife offered to send them into the shower room while she dried their clothes in the dryer, an offer they politely declined. They returned the next day and finished the job. They were extremely neat and clean and did a superb job of covering stuff prior to commencing work and then cleaning up every trace of dust, etc.. when the job was completed. Your office staff and installation crew are to be highly commended for outstanding performance and work. You can be sure that we have already been telling our friends what a wonderful experience this has been for us. Thank you the Petries. more

The best fiberglass windows! 7/3/2008

My wife and I had several windows and doors replace 5 years ago by a local company selling vinyl windows.\r The vinyl windows warped, cracked and leaked water causing damage to our home. We even had to hire a mold company. \r The manufactor of the vinyl windows said that the damages to the windows were do to normal weathering. We lost a long legal battle. I do not recomend vinyl windows to anyone.\r We found Fiberglass windows offered by Custom View. We replaced all the old vinyl windows and doors with fiberglass. Fiberglass does not warp or shrink. If you nned to replace your windows call them. See for yourself how fibergtlass windows from CV is you best investment! Pros: Fiberglass more

Repeated phone calls from them driving me nuts! 4/29/2008

Don't let this firm get your personal data. They got my telephone number and call me every evening. I sent them the following post and it comes back undelivered. \r \r ""Tell your people in Tucson, AZ at tel: 520-382-2928 to stop calling me every evening! I get to bed at 6 pm because I have to get up at 2 am. This call comes in all the time and wakes me up. There is NEVER anyone on the line. I think their automated system is not working properly. I will have to take other measures if this keeps up. I am losing sleep and it ruins my day.""\r \r Ok, this sounds funny, but to me it is no joke. more

Annoying telemarketing 11/15/2007

I do not recommend going with a company that practices rude telemarketing.\r They call me every single day from the number 520-382-2928 during dinner and\r I do not answer. They never leave a message. Last year they did the same thing from different numbers,\r offering me deals on new windows telling me about the utility bill savings. They are hard to get off the phone, after asking to be removed from the list I still got calls. Upon my 3rd request the calls finally stopped but have now started again! more

Custom View Windows 5/11/2006

Extremely poor customer service, don't return phone calls, high pressure sales, pays installers as piece work, told us we were scheduled for 3 days with 2 installers, took 4 days with 2 days being only 1 installer, customer had to assist, awesome product though expensive, distributor is not recommended. Doesn't provide cost breakout invoice. Pros: good product Cons: poor customer service, expensive, tons of hassles more

ABOUT PLUM WINDOWS & DOORS 4/6/2006

In February 1988, a young Arizona entrepreneur who wasn’t afraid to knock on doors started a small but unique home improvement company called Arizona Home Exteriors. Specializing in making homes more energy efficient in a climate known for its wide fluctuations in temperature, the company achieved early success and attracted national attention.\r In 1992, Arizona Home Exteriors partnered with the nation’s #1 replacement window and door manufacturer, Thermal-Gard Windows & Doors. Together, they created Thermal-Gard of Arizona and introduced the first triple-pane, vinyl, thermally enhanced aluminum windows and doors in the United States.\r In January of 2004, after twelve years, Thermal-Gard of Arizona ended its partnership with Thermal-Gard so it could bring more advanced windows and doors specifically to the Southwest market. Custom View Windows & Doors was born and continued to offer triple-pane glass technology along with a new, fiberglass reinforced composite window system that was five times more energy efficient than its old system. The combination set a completely new standard in energy efficiency for window and door technology.\r Custom View was soon nationally recognized again for offering windows and doors that far exceeded local and national energy codes. Custom View never rested on its laurels, however. The search was ongoing for better technologies to make windows and doors more energy efficient and durable.\r Recognizing the limitations inherent in vinyl, Custom View started working with fiberglass pultrusion companies to create a whole new window and door system. Custom View introduced the first all-fiberglass, triple-pane windows and doors in the desert southwest. Custom View again gained national recognition, not just for raising the bar in energy efficiency but also for offering one of the first products in the industry that was “green-build certified.”\r 20 years of cutting-edge technological advancement culminated in the formation of Plum Windows & Doors. Impervious to the desert heat or the artic cold, Plum’s fiberglass windows and doors neither expand nor contract with temperature change. They can also be ordered in any style or color.\r A successful window and door companyPlum Windows & Doors is one of America’s small business success stories, grown from the ground up. For more than two decades, although the names have changed, it has been one company, on one journey, with one objective: to offer the most energy efficient window and door systems available along with quality workmanship. With over twenty thousand installations, Plum is recognized as an Accredited Better Business Bureau company with the exclusive A+ rating. Plum Windows & Doors is proud to serve homeowners all over the United States today with the same commitment to quality and innovation that have fueled its growth since 1988\r . more
