Today I returned two items in exchange for two new items and owed $2.00 when the transaction was completed. I gave the cashier a$20 which was the only bill I had and received $8.00 in change. I questioned her and she said I handed her 'a shiny new $10'. I thought a moment before saying that I only had one bill in my wallet, it wasn't new and it wasn't a $10. She said it was time for her to go home and she wanted my phone number. I told her that when she counted her register I was sure she would find that there was $10 extra in the register. She said again that she was going home then and my assumption was that she would take care of the matter later (?). Shortly after I got home she called and said she'd counted the drawer and the money balanced with the day's sales. I was surprised, to say the least.\r
I am writing to you about this because the only thing I can think is that the money went into her pocket. I may be all wrong about this but I know what I gave her and I can't think of another explanation. I could not let the matter rest because - what if this happens now and then to customers? Maybe most folks don't notice. If they do, they won't return to the store.
