Levelized billing allows co-op members to pay the same amount, based on past annual usage, over 12 months. That helps families avoid spikes caused by hot or cold weather. The accounts are ""trued up"" every year. If the member uses less electricity, they get a refund and the amount billed each month is lower. If the member uses more electricity, the difference is paid and the monthly amount raised. If the member moves, then the account also is trued up. It is a benefit that tends to work well for members who want to have the same costs for service every month. Members are not charged for electricity not consumed.
