Planned Parenthood

Good: The medical staff was knowledgeable, open about care, and didn't wasn't time explaining things that I already knew.. Bad: One of the receptionists (red head) was just plain rude. She made no attempt to help me fill out the insurance information, didn't offer to check to see if my insurance would cover the appointment, make no mention of the Take Charge program AND flat out lied to the other receptionist about why she didn't take care of the insurance info in the first place. Go to the blond one--not only does she know what she's doing, she's also nice about it as well.. Improvements: The reception area gives off a bad "You are a bad person for being here" vibe. It really supports the whole stigma related with Planned Parenthood. Sexual/reproductive health shouldn't be closeted.. Other: The doctor did a more thorough check than my regular doctor and, though they seemed rushed at times, the staff (with one red headed exception) knew what they were doing. At no point during the actual appointment did I feel uncomfortable (which is truly amazing, given what I was there for).. more

After navigating their unfriendly phone system, I eventually spoke with a very rude woman who informed my that to get my depo shot, I would need to pay close to $200, even though I am currently unemployed. In FL and in SC this shot cost $50. Although I have a prescription through one of their FL offices, they want to charge an office visit fee. Oh, and the office visit fee doesn't even include any kind of exam. Terrible. I am shocked especially since everyone affiliated with planned parenthood that I dealt with in FL and in SC was extremely nice and helpful. I feel for any young woman calling them in a time of crisis looking for kindness and help. Go elsewhere. more

If you need an inexpensive place to get your yearly papsmears this is a great place. When I was on a tight budget I found this place. They also have programs for those who cant afford the exams. I was also able to get a tubal ligation at no cost because I was a single mother and student. more
