Great deal and great time 10/19/2011

Good: We got the living social deal and feel like it was a real bargain. It cost a lot less for us to take advantage of a ton of games and miniature golf than it would have to go to the pizza and game place across the street. My family had a great time, and the staff fun and friendly.. Bad: I wish the food came out a little faster, but the manager explained they cook everything fresh which takes a little more time. When we tasted the pizza, it was worth a little wait.. Improvements: When we went on a Saturday the place was packed, so there was a wait for laser tag. I guess we could have called ahead to reserve it, but I wasn't aware of that.. Other: Overall, I was impressed with not only the wide range of games and fun environment, but also the quality of the food. You could serve it in a stand alone restaurant. Plus, it was nice to be able to enjoy a beer while the kids played. We will definately make this a regular stop on our weekends.. more

Poor Customer Service and Management 1/21/2011

These guys are not honoring the Livingsocial.com certificates like they should. Every Friday, kids that want two hours can do the 2 hour package for $15. Just because I use livingsocial, they said that we had to pay the full rate despite everyone else in the place getting the $15 Friday rate. I told the manager that's like having a special on tenderloin tuesdays and then expecting the customer to pay full price. The manager proceeds to explain how little of the certificate value they actually get and they can't afford to honor the rates posted as daily specials on the website. We left and will not be back again. BTW, the bathrooms in this place are dirty, they are always understaffed, and things don't always work. BTW, this is in no way a knock against Living Social; I've never had this issue when using the certificates. more

Not The Best, But Okay! 4/8/2006

I do enjoy going to Planet X, but it isn't the cheapest. They have some games, but not a lot, and most of the time half of them don't work. They have laser tag, bumper cars, baseball, and space jump, but as I said it is expensive. You play laser tag for 10 minutes and pay too much. The employees are overall okay, not the most polite, but it is understandable with working with kids all day. They are a bit slow at getting to help you. I don't think that I would suggest this for a day out with friends. more

PLANET X....a bit on the noisy, violent side games-wise 10/8/2005

....AND a bit on the hard side of parents wallets price-wise! there, that about says it all but for the sake of those who still don't understand I will try to explain. Planet X has had many lives...in South Iowa city, downtown Iowa City and now in Cedar rapids. one must ask oneself why it has moved so much. Well, from a mothers point of view it has moved because not only is it an expensive place to play (and extremely expensive to have a birthday party there as well) but the games they offer for the pre-teen set are few and far between when it comes to non-violent varieties. Maybe I shouldn't judge in a review but i can't help but avoid a place that caters to violence and aggression like this one does. there is enough violence, death and hatred in the world without encouraging young miinds to embrace the idea of it being acceptable through video games. As always....my opinion.....take it or leave it, but remember this is an honest opinion and should be read as one. more

great fun 10/2/2005

this is a fun place for everyone of all ages to go and enjoy for a few hours. they have miniature golf, lazer tag, video games, food. just about a little of everything to do here. they also will help coordinate any birthday parties or celebrations that you are planning to have. it makes it a lot of fun for the kids and place to run off some energy especially in the winter months when they cant get outside as much as in the summertime. more

Not my favorite play place 8/6/2005

My children really like going to Planet X, but I’m still not entirely sold on the place. Many of their video games are quite violent, and some of the activities can take as many as six tokens play. On a recent visit my son went through $5 worth of tokens in less than twenty minutes. They do offer miniature golf, laser tag and space ball which can offer a change of pace from trips to the pool or playground. more

Kid Fun 8/5/2005

We recently brought my son to Planet X for a birthday party he was invited to. My son had a absolutely great time! He loved playing the games and winning tickets so that he could later claim them for prizes. There was bowling, rock climbing, golf, laser tag and much more! It is very conveniently located near Lindale Mall. There is plenty of parking available. My only complaint is when my son went to claim his ticket stubs for prizes, the workers seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves than helping customers. I would still take my son back to there. more

Teenagers love this place! 7/12/2005

A great place for hours of fun. They have arcade games, miniature golf, Laser Tag, Bumper Cars, and more! My kids have had several Birthday parties here. All the children had a blast. They have different party packages available. They could use more seating for adults. The miniature golf is ok but not great. All the major games such as Bumper Cars and Laser Tag cost extra $$$. An afternoon of fun can become very expensive. more

Miniature golf and games 7/11/2005

The games are pricey to play. The bumper cars are cool, but you don't get to drive for very long and it makes it pricey. The miniature golf course is neat and is two levels. I didn't find that to be too bad in price. There is an area upstairs to reserve for parties. There is limited seating downstairs and a concessions stand. more
