Plaka is an undiscovered gem of Greek cuisine. Although it is tucked away in a shopping mall in Jackson Heights/East Elmhurst, it is as good as if not better than most Greek restaurants in nearby Astoria (and the rest of the NY metro area). I eat here at least once a month, and often bring my Greek immigrant mom as well, who heartily approves of the food...and that's saying A LOT!! The spanakopita (spinach pie) and avgolemono (egg-lemon soup) are especially well done here, as are the traditional souvlaki and fried calamari. Plus, service is excellent, prices are reasonable, and there's ample parking...what more could you ask for!
