Incredibly sweet waitstaff, brilliant menu of traditional to offbeat pizzas, great salads and a fine, fine wine list. We return again and again. We bring our friends. They insist on going back. This is upscale comfort food at downscale prices. Pros: the staff is as good as the pizza more

Better than it's competition down the street 1/29/2009

It is a smaller selection, not as quick but I prefer this place over p. pizza down the street. I like the brushetta as well as the pizza with arugula on it. Blanking on the name. Desserts are boring here. more

Best appetizers of all time 12/20/2008

The pizza is amazing, but the apps are killer! My husband and I love the carciofo and order as a carry-out meal on a regular basis. Yummmm! In my experience, the service is acceptable. Parking is hit-or-miss...just have to find a metered spot somewhat nearby. Pros: carciofo Cons: parking more

best pizza i'ev had!! 1/7/2008

the exposed brick, red leather chairs and brick oven make this a very cozy spot in the st. anthony neighborhood. we had a caprini pizza, that had sun dried tomatos, smoked mozarella, goat cheese and artichokes. It was so so yummy and the pizza crust was excellent. We also had a gorgonzola salad, very fresh and gormet cheese. will defnitely come again and again to try the large variety of pizzas. Pros: top notch brick oven pizza Cons: have to find parking around the area more

East Hennepin's best-kept secret! 9/5/2007

Only a block from another ""Neopolitan"" pizza joint which caters primarily to the beer and pizza college crowd, this intimate little gem is one of the best-kept secrets on East Hennepin in the St. Anthony Main district. The pizza is the best we have eaten in the Twin Cities, with perfectly baked thin crust, and generous amounts of fresh tomatoes, herbs and a variety of other toppings. We've had Neopolitan pizza at other places, and no-one seems to be able to bake the pizza so that the middle is not soggy. Pizza Nea gets it right! Monday night is half-price wine, and they have a moderately-priced wine list with enough variety to satisfy any palate--and beer, too. For those of us who enjoy greens with our pizza, there is a variety of super-fresh salads to choose from. Pros: Intimacy, informal and friendly service, simple decor featuring local artists' paintings Cons: Metered parking on street, ramp parking two blocks away. more

Better than Italy 11/1/2006

It's true, the pizza I had at Pizza Nea (on several occasions) is better than the Neapolitan pizza I had in Italy--cheaper too. The Happy Hour is a great deal; I got two Stella Artois for $5! I noticed that the Pizza Nea on Hennepin is usually fairly empty but I don't know why. The pizza is so damn good. Pros: Great Neapolitan Pizza! Good Happy Hour. Cons: Lack of enthusiasm & sincerity from the nice wait staff more

Wonderful Neopolitan Pizza - but Competition is just down the street... 9/10/2006

This is only the second time I have visited Pizza Neo, but it has proven excellent on both occasions! Both times I was there with small groups (6) with both adults and children. While the general character of the restaurant is not kid-centric, it is not kid unfriendly. But the reason to go is not the nice attractive room (although a bit noisy) but the food! Pros: Pizza, Decor, Service Cons: Can get loud, Meter parking on street more

Great gourmet pizza and cozy atmosphere 8/28/2006

My wife and I love this place! They have great gourmet brick oven pizza, I especially like the Four Quarters pizza. They also have a nice wine list. For early evening dinners, this place is very cozy...especially in the winters. Highly recommended. Pros: Great pizza, good wine list, cozy Cons: Can get a little crowded and noisy more

Best Pizza and Wine Selection Combination in Town 7/28/2006

Pizza Nea is one of our regular hotspots. From great pizza to an extensive wine list (with favorable prices for a change) we are able to have a wonderful dining experience without going broke. The owner is wonderful and engaging as are the wait staff. Pros: Prices and ambience Cons: Not the all-american restaurant that attempts to serve every food choice more

Not recommended 5/18/2006

My boyfriend and I thought this would be a cute place to have dinner, but we were mistaken. The pizza I had was so salty I could taste it hours later. The waiter stared at us the whole time, as we were the only customers there, but he neglected to fill our tiny water glasses, so I had nothing to cut down on the salty pizza. The little service we did have was poor and the pizza was terrible. The ambience was depressing because the owner was talking about the lack of customers. I don't recommend it. Pros: Acceptable pricing, Nice decor, Not crowded Cons: Poor service, Unpleasant food more

Very good! 3/19/2006

Pizza here is very good but not like traditional pizza. I like the unique ingredients and the lighter crust! My favorite here is UNDOUBTEDLY the brushetta. It is pretty much FANTASTIC. Negatives...well, parking isn't ideal. Actually, parking is non-existent. Also, one day I was there and the either the owner or manager was being pretty unneccesarily hard on the waiter, in view of the patrons. Even so, get the brushetta! Pros: Brushetta, Location, Food Cons: Parking, Size, Mean people more
