Only a block from another ""Neopolitan"" pizza joint which caters primarily to the beer and pizza college crowd, this intimate little gem is one of the best-kept secrets on East Hennepin in the St. Anthony Main district. The pizza is the best we have eaten in the Twin Cities, with perfectly baked thin crust, and generous amounts of fresh tomatoes, herbs and a variety of other toppings. We've had Neopolitan pizza at other places, and no-one seems to be able to bake the pizza so that the middle is not soggy. Pizza Nea gets it right! Monday night is half-price wine, and they have a moderately-priced wine list with enough variety to satisfy any palate--and beer, too. For those of us who enjoy greens with our pizza, there is a variety of super-fresh salads to choose from.
Pros: Intimacy, informal and friendly service, simple decor featuring local artists' paintings
Cons: Metered parking on street, ramp parking two blocks away.
