Pizza My Heart Just Okay 10/25/2006

I was in Santa Cruz last weekend and had asked where I could get pizza for dinner since I had 3 of my kids with me. Anyhow, someone suggested Pizza My Heart because "they pizza is the best". So, we went. The place was quaint (small) with not much seating room and certainly no room for a stroller. Ordering is a bit confusing as you don't exactly order from the cash register if you just want a slice. That you order from a head behind a tall counter that you can barely see. Anyway, ordered the pizza and sat and waited. The people were friendly enough and the pizza came very quickly but when I got it, I was not impressed. It was paper thin with quite a lot of sauce and miniscule amounts of cheese (you can see more of the sauce than the cheese). The taste was okay but certainly not the best. I think the next time I'm in Santa Cruz, I'll opt to eat somewhere else. more

Ya got my heart, Pizza My Heart 3/30/2006

Ohh, one of the pleasures of being in Santa Cruz is the number of scrumptious pizza places around. You almost can't go wrong eating pizza in Santa Cruz. One of my first finds when moving there is Pizza My Heart. Yeah the name sounds lame, but darn is it good. Crunchy pies, tasty and zesty sauce, and abundant, but not overindulgent toppings. What more could you ask for? Parking can be a pain, but one of the pluses of Santa Cruz is that it is pretty cheap, and there are a number of free spaces about if you know where to look more

Pizza My Heart 1/13/2006

Pizza My Heart has been a favorite along Pacific Avenue for years. They always have hot pizza by the slice at budget prices. There are usually three or four pizzas that you can choose from at any given time. The decor in Pizza My Heart is a lot of fun to look at as you are munching a slice of pepperoni. The place is decorated in early surfer memorabilia, including some real oddities- like a metal, motorized surfboard that hangs from the ceiling! more

Good Pizza 9/19/2005

Located on bustling Pacific Avenue in downtown Santa Cruz, this place is often flooded by hungry shoppers. As you walk in you are treated to the sight of five or six different kinds of pizzas. You tell the smiling person behind the counter which one you want (their cheese and mushroom, while simple, is yummy!) and they grab it, stick it back into the oven to crisp and warm up and hand you off to the cashier. After you've paid and gotten your pizza, go to the spice counter where they have spices which I never would have pictured anyone using on their pizza, ranging from the normal chili flakes to the abnormal, nutmeg! The pizza itself is very good with a thin, crunchy crust and cut into generous slices. Good food for when you're on the go, but you'll have to fold the pizza in half to get it in your mouth. :) more
