I usually try to visit the zoo a least once a year. I have been there for a few Boo Zoo's too. The price is very reasonable for all that is involved. There is a lot of parking . But everything here requires a lot of walking. If you tire easy I might suggest a scooter for the elderly and definitely wagons and strollers for the children. They do rent all of these. The food at any one of their concessions stands is not the best. The environment for the animals is laid out like their natural environment as much as possible. The new Aquarium is a great addition. The is also a huge play area for the children at the end . more

Lions and Tigers and Bears.. oh my! 2/7/2006

The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium is one of the most underrated attractions in city, in my opinion. The habitats are fantastic, and the overall presentation of various species is both educational and entertaining. The food options are somewhat limited, but I don't go to zoos for gourmet cuisine. The aquarium is also great; it's been recently renovated and is a great improvement on the old building. You can easily spend an entire day at the Pittsburgh Zoo, so take your time. My favorite part is their very impressive children's section of the zoo, which not only encourages interaction with the animals but teaches children what it's like to be the animals. This big kid loved it! more
