Editorial review from Citysearch 9/26/2013

Last spring (2012) I had my boat, Byzantium, shipped from Europe to Newport RI and needed a reasonable place I could trust, not too far from Newport, to keep it for me until the summer. I hesitated at first about Pirate Cove Marina because of some negative reviews I found on the Internet. At the end, I decided to go with them nonetheless.\r \r I was NOT disappointed! The marina was safe and pleasant. It became our home base in Rhode Island. Brandon Kidd (yes…Kidd) and his mates were all friendly and professional. At every turn, the went out of their way to accommodate us and make our stay more enjoyable.\r \r If you need a place for your boat in Rhode Island, I heartily recommend Pirate Cove Marina. They will take good care of you. - Jean T more

STAY AWAY!!! 12/4/2011

Stay away! I bought a used boat from them which was described as "immaculate", "true turn key", "pristine condition" and "shows as new". I paid top dollar for this boat. When I got it home to my mechanic he handed me an estimate for needed repairs of $12,500. The starboard engine had so much damage that the motor mount almost rusted away completely and the engine will have to come out of the boat for repair. I am lucky that I made it home. I called the owner, Brandon Kidd, and he almost sounded amused asking if he should feel "sorry" for me. He knew this call would come. His mechanics had been all over those engines so there is no way that they were not aware of the extensive problems. He told me to go after the surveyor who made $700 when he made $7,000 off the deal! His in house broker, Mike Cannarozzi, described himself to me as "the most honest broker in the business"!!! AWFUL EXPERIENCE-DON'T GET BURNED TOO!!!! more
