It's like stepping into Tokyo. Which means, the menu is a departure from what we're used to and all well-worth trying. Mmm fish balls. Also, the atmosphere is really modern and I like it's a bit of a transporting experience.\r more

Good food, but not going back 4/8/2011

We went to Ping, and enjoyed our meal. We had several different things, and, except for the kobe beef skewers, they were all quite tasty. If you're looking for something interesting, I can definitely recommend the tea egg. So, why am I not going back? Well, when the restaurant is full, they are happy to take your name and your cell phone number and then tell you you can't wait there. You are not allowed to wait at the restaurant for a table, period. They don't have the space and it's a fire hazard. The hostess was rad and apologized and tried shuffling stuff around to get us a table sooner, but I simply have no interest in going back to a place that says ""Thanks for trying, come back later, now get out."" If they moved even a few tables to create space for waiting customers, this review would instantly become 5 stars, but as it is, this one is a write off. more

Amazingly good Asian food, located in Chinatown 4/17/2010

I've heard nothing but raves about Pok Pok, but haven't had the chance to try it yet. After having Ping, Pok Pok's sister restaurant, I'm not sure I care. Ping is everything you should hope for in a restaurant: upbeat and upscale, with a sultry dining area, excellent service and absolutely delicious food. A couple of dishes stand out in my mind: a refreshing cucumber, sesame seed salad with a vinegar dressing, satay chicken kabobs, delicate pork buns, and for dessert, a delicious (if not deliciously named) Sawdust pudding, that had a consistency that was certainly lighter and fluffier than any pudding I've ever had. The only cons that spring to mind are finding parking in Chinatown and the sight of the bill when you're done. Pros: Delicious food, good service, upbeat atmosphere Cons: Parking, price more
